One report has been derided by critics of Gov. Chris Christie as a whitewash; his defenders see the other as a partisan smear-job against the governor.
But both a new interim report for a legislative committee investigating the politically motivated lane closures last year near the George Washington Bridge and one commissioned by the governors office and released in March reach a similar conclusion: There is no evidence that Christie participated in the scheme or knew about it as it happened.
They also share a shortcoming: Neither group of investigators had access to some witnesses who may be able to say definitively whether Christie had a role.
Still, the Republican governors supporters say the report released this week clears him. But its not the final word on the scandal or whether it could derail his possible 2016 presidential bid. The U.S. attorneys office is conducting a criminal probe; there is no indication of when that will wrap up.

That Christie scuttled a GOP candidate just before an election is all one really needs to know about his character.
That Christie has an anti 2A record is all one needs to know about his true feelings and agenda.
That Christie's appearance describes his lack of self-control is all one needs to know about his fitness for higher office
That Christie is an (unrequited) Springsteen groupie fills in any blanks.
.
The AP is pushing hard for Christie.
I could care less about bridge-gate. He is a liberal from New Jersey.
Here’s the deal...from twenty-odd negatives, he has this one positive. In a debate, he can take on just about every single guy out there (Republicans and Democrats) and knock them down a step or two. Cruz might be capable of just equalizing Christie, but no one else has that ability.
But then you look at various negatives, and you realize this AP push for him....is mostly to help get support in the northeast, and perhaps sell him later as a VP or DoJ guy. Personally, after that bridge business....I wouldn’t want Christie or any member of his present staff within my White House. If he doesn’t get picked up for anything in 2016, I’ll predict he runs for NJ senator in 2018 or 2020.
Let him go the Senator route.
As far as no one taking care of his rhetoric, Gingrich would clean his clock and set the time.
Christie looks more like Santa Claus

Christie looks like he ate Santa Claus.
Ugh. I don’t know why Coulter and Barkley are so enamoured with this guy. I can’t think of one good thing to say to someone who hugs Obama intentionally.
Who cares? He’s just a democrat posing as a RINO. F’’k him to hell.
Christie cleared of a crime. Good for him.
Not a Christie fan, but all of this is hogwash when the media refuses to investigate Benghazi, IRS scandal. Obamacare lies, etc.
Good they cleared him.
Hope he stays in New Jersey.
He’s not the one for the White House.
If he were a conservative, it might could work.
Having damaged him, the scum MSM is now setting him up to be the GOP candidate. This is what the media scum like to see in a GOP candidate; someone who is damaged, wish washy, and unelectable.
Springsteen sucks!
Christie is nothing but a name-caller. Cruz would crush him in a debate.
Not a christie defender, but this isnt unusual. It isnt unheard of for a politicians appointees and various underlings to take it upon themselves to do dirty work without having been ordered to by their bosses. In many cases they dont need to be told what sleazy things to do. They just take it upon themselves to do it.
“Bridgegate” happens to be a character issue—and EVERYBODY knows it, though the MSM covers for him as best they can.
Are we supposed to believe that Fatty is NOT ABLE to cover his tracks well? He is the gov., after all.
