There was a prior grand jury ruling where a police officer was not indicted. I don’t remember all of the particulars, but I do remember that someone on CNN said that a judge ordered it to go back to another grand jury trial because he said that lies were told when testimonies were being taken.

I’m not sure if that is the only reason a 2nd grand jury trial can be ordered by a judge...

For many reasons

Or go Federal

I am not keen on retrying acquitted folks for federal civil rights

Its never been fairly applied and smacks of double jeopardy

The feds use it to circumvent jury nullification when victims are black

If I’m wrong about grand juries being one shot I’ll stand corrected

You made me doubt myself so rather relying on instinct or memory I looked it up

- The Double Jeopardy Clause of the Fifth Amendment does not attach in a grand jury proceeding, or bar a grand jury from returning an indictment when a prior grand jury has refused to do so.
