In storybooks, sure. This is the real world, where people fall in and OUT of love all the time. I would prefer a lasting commitment that is not dependent on such fleeting fancies, and the only way to have that is if there are consequences for betraying such a commitment.
That is extremely simple: for believers, the downside will be a sensible estrangement from God, a more distant walk. For the world, the worse it gets the worse their society gets. There is no escaping.
