Squeezing out conservatives on committee assignments is a tried and true strategy of the establishment. Boehner has threatened and successfully kicked conservative troublemakers off of committees for standing up for their principles. In the Senate McConnell even had to recruit Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) for the Senate Finance Committee to jam then Senator DeMint. Even recently, conservative Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was pushed out of the chair at House Oversight because he wanted to aggressively go after the Obama administration.
"Given the fact that Senator Sessions has done a superb job serving as the Ranking Member of the Senate Budget Committee, why bench your all-star for a walk on?"
It is happening again. Conservative Review was the first conservative media outlet to detail how Senator Enzi was challenging Senator Sessions for the Budget gavel and then laid out how McConnell has the ability to stop or sway the contest.
Seniority plays a large role in Senators committee assignments and is traditionally used by the establishment as the reason for withholding key positions from conservatives. However, in the case with Senator Sessions (R-AL) he is the more senior (and more conservative) member.
Senators Enzi and Sessions were both elected in 1997, but because Alabama is a bigger state than Wyoming, Sessions is a notch above Enzi on the seniority ladder. However, for committee assignment purposes tiebreakers on seniority are done by lottery, literally luck of the draw.
Given the fact that Senator Sessions has done a superb job serving as the Ranking Member of the Senate Budget Committee, why bench your all-star for a walk on?
"What was Senator Enzi doing on the infamous night of executive amnesty? He was on the Senate floor calling on Congress to pass one of the latest Big Government schemes: an Internet sales tax.

Enjoy your two years as Majority Leader, Mitch.
These deluded RINOs with their hubris will end up condemning their RINO Candidate for 2016 to defeat (again).
As a conservative, my last try at “giving them a chance” was just this past November. I won’t be doing this in 2016. PUT UP or STFU, RINOs.
Its nearly over before it even started.
Republicans aren’t going to waste this opportunity to slop at the pig trough by trying to reform the government.
They like it just the way it is.
Especially now that they will get first dibs on the loot.
As a conservative, my last try at giving them a chance was just this past November.
Deep down I think we all knew this wasn’t going to work out the way we had hoped. The train has derailed at the first curve in the tracks, yet again. The Great Republican Train Wreck is always a predictable event.
For the first time in my life I sat out the last election. The GOPe will get no more chances from me.
I would have also, but I just could not bring myself to aid in the election of a mousy daughter of Sam Nunn, nor the toothy grandson of that idiot Jimmy Carter.
I suspect you’re right. BUT....it did give me GREAT SATISFACTION here in Georgia to see a couple of legacy heirs of absurd Democrat icons gone past - Michelle and Jason, get their asses handed to them on a platter, without a runoff, to boot.
If nothing else, it was nice to see Reid get the boot. We can at least enjoy that one brief, transient moment of success. ;)
But the GOP is what it is. The Stupid Party. My expectations are extremely low.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the phrase I always used to say, “...they need to grow a pair of b@lls,” needs some clarification.....
In order for someone to “grow a pair,” one would first have to have a spine from which to hang them.
Lets face it. The elite “insiders” are all of the same stripe. All they think about from morning to night is their own re-election and staying in the circle of privilege that it insures. There is only one party for them and it is the cocktail party after the close of business each day. Brie and Chablis or shrimp and single malt. Eff the plebeians.
Washington DC has had a boom in expensive restaurants and this spreads out to the wealthy suburbs of DC....Some of the wealthiest US zip codes are the DC suburbs full of trough feeders///Federale drones///payroll patriots/// useless eaters//// useless dumbed down affirniative action hires such as black/lesbian/female/gays/handicapped and so on and on
The Republicans are spineless because the base allows them to be that way. That’s the stark reality.
Fixed it! I'll never vote for another R, at least not in the foreseeable future. Perhaps when an R comes on the scene that actually has some balls and believes in the Constitution, yes. But there are none at this point. No, as boisterous as Cruz is, I don't even think he has what it's going to take at this point. I'll vote for him when he has the tenacity and respect for himself to change his party affiliation, but I'm done with the R's.
Ask the conservative House members why they re-elected that turd Boehner. All politics, nothing to do with ideology.
Darn. I had January 2nd on the ‘How long before the Republicans turn to Liberals pool’.
I figured I was safe. Who knew it was going to be Dec. 3. I’m not sure they were even selling squares for December.
I feel ripped off (again). In the finest USG tradition, I had already spent the money I felt sure I would win.
