A vehicle reportedly plowed through a group of demonstrators in Minneapolis Tuesday afternoon during a march and rally in the wake of a Missouri grand jury decision not to indict a white police officer for fatally shooting a black teenager.
A solidarity rally and march for Michael Brown, who was killed by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, was planned Tuesday near the Minneapolis Police Departments 3rd Precinct building at E. Lake Street and Minnehaha Avenue.
A Star Tribune reporter who is at the rally says that witnesses say the vehicle started honking at protesters blocking the intersection before running down a woman around the start of the rally at 4:30 p.m.
Moments after the woman was struck, a group of demonstrators pounced on the hood of the vehicle, while others tried to free the victim. Witnesses say that the womans leg was caught under the car

Someone following the prudent advice on how NOT to become a victim of the crowds, it seems.

I sure as hell wouldn’t stop in the middle of that crowd.
To: dfwgator
You have a point. It’s possible that the driver was in fear of being attacked.

Am I supposed to feel sorry for these “peaceful” protesters? If I had my 1 year old with me and was caught in this nonsense I’d do the same thing.

Unless the protesters were on a sidewalk ... it's hard to feel too bad for them. If my vehicle were caged in by an angry mob, I have to believe I'd make a hole too. Better than being dragged from my vehicle and bludgeoned.

Usually this is assault with a deadly weapons, but hey, if you fear for your life, I think arguably you might pull it off.
Given the famous context of the previous night and what went on, I think the driver might not be totally on the hook.
Lawyers...?
