Fort Sam is on lockdown. Any help would be great, my only son is there.
Bergdahl is there IIRC.
Lockdowns on bases are actually pretty common. I lived on base for 8 years and you actually kind of get used to them. Could just be a fence jumper or even a shoplifter and the BX. I never experienced one that was anything serious...just inconvenient. Don’t worry too much yet.
Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston has been placed on lockdown while base security investigates a suspicious vehicle.
Director of Public Affairs for Joint Base San Antonio, Todd White, said that this is not a shooting incident. "There is no active shooter," he said. "And nothing to indicate there ever was."
Traffic has begun to build around base entrances as no one is being allowed in or out as announcements over command post speakers continue to announce that the base is in a state of lockdown.
Updates will be posted as details are released.

Relax, mom, looks like standard operating procedure for perhaps an abandoned car or some such...
All I could find in links...not sure but looks like a bomb threat...not necessarily real information available yet.

This one does not classify as a vanity. Thanks for posting this.
Have you called your son?
Chatter on Twitter is saying that it’s been resolved, and no one has been hurt.
No they are not common. I was in and out of at Fort Sam for years and don’t remember any. this is a post and not a base.
Davy Crocket will protect em....
Shoplifters are bad, but Lopshifters are awful.
1 person in custody at Fort Sam Houston presumably driver of “suspicious vehicle” that triggered bomb threat and lockdown.
This is awful.

This is awful.
Been limited texts.. Need him all ears and practice assessments like these. He is locked in his room. He is still new so I have run him through salute and scenarios that could transpire.
He is ok, as I hope all my brothers and sisters in arms are.
Hardest thing to stay put and listen for clues. It is our nature to either run out and defend or run out and look.
