WASHINGTON, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- President Obama quietly signed a classified executive order authorizing a more expansive role for U.S. troops in Afghanistan in 2015, ensuring American troops will be fighting in the country for at least one more year, The New York Times reported.
The order allows American troops to take a direct role in missions against militant groups that include the Taliban.

...oh, never mind!
looks like LBJ and Vietnam
I would guess that the failure in Iraq and the rise of ISIL came as a shock that resulted in listening to what he was being told about Afghanistan.
What’s a Congress?
That comparison is more for his sending ‘advisors’ into Iraq.
How many countries in the world do we have “troops”, “advisors”, “special forces”, etc. in?
I dare the administration to give a number.
Just the number—no more details.
The number alone will demonstrate that we have a foreign policy out of control, unable to set priorities, driven by mission creep, and with no accountability.
This would be dubbed the Reagan/(Bush) Secret War... Oh nevermind x2.
That way he can shift the mess and the need to leave or increase our military presence onto the next administration.
Sorry for being slow, but what is a ‘classified exec order’?
An executive order that is secret?
The possibility for abuse boggles the mind. There is no declared war going on. Is there not something wrong with this?
I guess it’s not so secret now...
Secret!? How can it be if we know about it?
The local paper in Minneapolis, Minnesota - Star & Tribune ran this story. I skipped right to the comments.... Sure enough there was one person who blamed it on George Bush.
Most blamed obama.
Here was a response to that person: Ding Ding Ding Ding....you are the winner! Obama lying about getting out of Afghanistan and instead escalating is Bush’s fault, 6 years later! Congratulations for staying the course on liberal talking points.
That sounds similar to what Senator John McCain said.
