(KMOV.com) It can be a terrifying situation when a driver is in their vehicle and is suddenly surrounded by protesters and it happened multiple times during protesting in Ferguson.
So what do you do if you find yourself in this situation? News 4s Sharon Reed sat down with two security experts who shared their 60 years experience.
Its important to remember to:
Remain calm. Getting excited tends to get others excited. Slow down. Dont run anyone over where you will injure them. Stay in your vehicle. Keep the doors locked and windows rolled up. If you are inside your car, police can identify who are the victims and who are the aggressors.

Stay in the car. Lock the doors and windows and dont run anyone over. Really? That’s the “expert” advice? Any advice on what to do when the windows are broken, they pull you out of the car and beat you with a brick?
May want to avoid these locales as well:

A good friend was enraged by the Kent State shooting.
He said,”Those NG troops expended how many rounds and only killed 4 people!”
I was sort of in this situation once. I witnessed an act of vandalism and was following the ute’s in my car while on the phone with police dispatch. It escalated when one of them threw a rock at me ad broke my windshield. I turned down a street which turned out to be dead end. A small gang of ferals joined the party and were trying to get into my car. I could see the police lights on the way so I didn’t do anything but sit there.
It’s amazing how quickly the party stopped when everyone had little red dots pointed at their center mass. Several went to jail that night. The police barely asked me my name.
I guess the guy with the camera didn’t get the show he was looking for.I’d get out of the car just long enough to double-tap his sorry ass.

Sad, but true. “

***Watch a demolition derby***
I was at a demolition derby once in Carlsbad NM back in 1961. The first thing I noticed was the drivers try to use the rear and trunk area for smashing and protect the front end and radiator.
***The backblast from a claymore is lethal.***
I always had a feeling that there was something they weren’t telling us about as this was for a photo op.
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction is what I was always taught.
There is no one answer to this. Happened to me in Istanbul. Thought I could get out peacefully until the rock went through the rear window. Then it was bounce people off the front time. No police in sight. Had to find the first open road and get the heck out of dodge.
My South African friends never drive alone and all passengers and driver have a chambered handgun in their lap at all times. They prefer sedans with fold down back seats because they keep AR platforms in the trunk under white towels with a minimum of 10 30 round mags per rifle.
All of these suggestions imply that there are only people in your way.
My husband was at work in Los Angeles when the Rodney King riots started. It was unsafe to stay where he was, as the neighborhood became engulfed in rioters and fires.
When he tried to leave, the immediate streets were choked with cars as the cars stopped in the middle of the street, so the rioters/looters could rush to the neighboring businesses and loot and burn before they got back in their cars to inch forward to the next target.
While he was prepared to run over rioters, there was little, if any, space for him to get around stopped cars. He decided that he would take his chances and attempt to drive on the adjacent light rail tracks if he had to.
Fortunately for him, the rioters were more interested in stealing than they were in attacking motorists of the wrong color and he got home safely.
Coming to major American cities within a decade...if something drastic doesn’t help us change course.
Put the car in reverse, crank the wheel all the way to the left... floorboard the car. Out of control backwards donuts will clear a crowd. Guaranteed.
You’re right, although it’s a lot harder to drive precisely in reverse. And while your radiator may be damaged by impact or projectiles, you can drive a long way before the motor locks up. Especially in these newer cars that go into “camel” mode when they are overheated.
I forgot to say these are women friends. To them this is nothing. Like putting make up on in the morning.
I have seen a few responses about bear spray. Is that like pepper spray?
I carry Ruger P90 45 ACP with Crimson Trace loaded with Win SXZ45 HPs. Figure its not likely they’ll be wearing any Kevlar.
Seems like the best bet would be totin a Judge as #2 backup, carrying a 410 Bucksot under the hammer and the rest alternating Long Colt 45 HP and 410 Bucks. That combo would make quite the mess for ER surgeon if the perp ever got that far.
Had the Ferguson cop been carrying a 45, he would not have needed to pop the fool 9 times.
I couldn’t live in one of those cities with protesters taking to streets on a whim or violence over everything they disagree with, such anarchy mentality.
“Back up to make some running room for a head start, and then floor it and laugh like a maniac!”
Ya took the words right out of my head! Kill a few of the idiots and the rest will scatter like fleas!
