Pope Francis warned Thursday that planet earth would not forgive the abuse of its resources for profit, urging the world's leaders to rein in their greed and help the hungry -- or risk a doomsday scenario in which nature would exact revenge.
"God always forgives, but the earth does not," the Argentine pope told the Second International Conference on Nutrition (CIN2) in Rome, a three-day meeting aimed at tackling malnutrition, a global scourge which afflicts poor and rich alike.
"Take care of the earth so it does not respond with destruction," he warned representatives from 190 countries gathered for the conference organised by the UN food agency (FAO) and World Health Organization (WHO) in the Italian capital.

More heretical ramblings from the Vatican apostate who pollutes people of faith.
“To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed” - Titus 1:15-16
I think I misunderstood you...Francis is a nutcase. Thanks.
Agreed, and who now is relaxing the church laws against homosexuality.
Mistranslated again, I’m sure.
Here is what he said:
"Pope Francis warned Thursday that planet earth would not forgive the abuse of its resources for profit"
God gave the earth's resources for people to take advantage of to make a living. Many a person has been saved from poverty through the trade of resources.
The Pope is not talking about private property. Far from it.
Did you say prayer for the sick child?
“the abuse of its resources for profit”
Using resources is a sin and also is making a profit.
Who is this guy?
And more importantly why is the stain of collectivism spreading about the world?
“God always forgives, but the earth does not,”
The Bible shows that God uses the earth and it’s natural elements to punish sinners so that means that God has control over the earth and it’s elements. The earth is His and not of it’s own mind or intelligence.
We had a really bad drought in Texas and Governor Perry asked the churches to pray with him for God to send rain. It rained in a big way. Then you have California...
Ever notice how every time liberals set out on a global warming campaign in which they claim man controls the climate and is making it warm, there is freezing and snow. It happens almost every time (like now as Obama sets out to impose climate change law on the US and globe). I think that is no accident. Someone does not want the peons on earth thinking they have control over the weather and climate of God’s earth.
There is a problem or conflict ongoing with God’s law in the global economy. That is humanism, the ideology of globalism, has no morals and ethics and no respect for human life. It is an economic ideology that cares only about power and profit. It will end up eating itself with evil.
A man that had his name changed to Papa Francisco and wears a dress in public.
That’s a new low for posting in the Religion Forum here at Free Republic.
Using a sick kid to get in a dig at good FR Christians who are bringing the truth to darkness.
Absolutely amazing.
I am a Catholic. And Francis is an idiot.
Time wounds all heels. There will be another Pope fairly soon.
The Catholic Church does NOT have all that much money.
The rich give plenty, and so do many other people.
I have also posted a prayer thread. I’ve just received word that it is an infection that has attacked his heart he’s on a bypass machine, and the hope is that he will gain enough strength to recover. His extremities were without blood for some time, so we don’t know what that means.
Instead of FReepers attacking each other over which brand of Christianity is best, pray for this child. It is sickening that you would continue this juvenile banter when there is so much hurt in the world that you could be praying for. I’ll pray for you also.
I’m sorry for the child and I hope he get well.
But the Pope is still a dope and a socialist. Wish he would worry more about the Muslims torturing and beheading people than what I had for dinner and where I put my thermostat. He sounds like Michelle O.
I quit giving anything to the Catholic Church when I saw Acorn as one of the groups getting my hard earned money about 20 years ago.
I am still giving separately to Covenant House but I may cancel that too.
I still give to the Salvation Army, the local mission and a few more, but I can’t give to group led by someone who thinks the Earth has human feelings.
Wished the Pope worried more about the Muslims torturing and beheading victims than what I had for dinner and where I put my thermostat.
I cant take someone seriously who thinks Earth has human feelings.
I did pray for the child. I shed tears for him and for his family, and petitioned God for a miracle.
However, this thread is not about people attacking each other over which brand of Christianity is best. It is a somber and sober discussion re: increasing concerns over what this Pope stands for. Some Catholics are profoundly concerned. Some non-Catholics are deeply concerned as well. It is not bashing to care about the direction this man is headed. From what we have seen and heard, there is more than sufficient cause for concern.
[& btw, the Green movement has a beachhead in certain evangelical churches too. There is more than enough liberalism worming its way into a broad array of churches to make this an ecumenical concern.]
The leader of the Roman Catholic church has just said that evil wins out at the end of this earth age.
Any other way to take his words?
It was my point that you started the "juvenile banter" by attacking other "FReepers"
It was you who attacked other members. And speaking of sickening...what you did was sickening. I just called you on it.
Perhaps you should ask the moderator to remove these posts, starting with #23.
Starting a prayer thread was the right thing to do.
