Thanks for that description of your experience and the process you went through to become an American.

My mother’s mother was a 1st generation American from the Slovak area. Her parents had come over to central Texas in the 1880s. Her husband, my grandfather, came to the United States from Austria in the late 1910s. He to came to Texas and met my grandmother.

He then went back to Europe during World War I and fought the Germans.

His only son, my Uncle Albert, fought Germany again in World War II, and was killed over Germany ion 1944 in a B-17.

The process to become an American citizen has been arduous for a reason. As Teddy Roosevelt said,

“We should insist that the immigrant who comes here does so in good faith and becomes a an American and assimilates himself to us. He shall be treated on an exact equality with every one else.

“But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in very fact an American and nothing but an American. If he tries to keep segregated with men of his own origin and separated from the rest of America, then he isn’t doing his part as an American.

“There can be no divided allegiance here.

“We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language, for we intend to see that the crucible turns our people out as Americans, of American nationality, and not as dwellers in a polyglot boarding-house; and we have room for but one soul loyalty, and that is loyalty to the American people.”

Great words from a great President.

Also, Idaho (and most of the intermountain west) maintains to this day the American ideal in the rural country and in the towns and cities.

People need not look for a small, isolated place to “bug out,” to. Idaho is such a place, as is Wyoming, Montana, western Colorado, Utah, northern Arizona, northern Nevada, and eastern Washington and Oregon.

Eastern Idaho around Idaho Falls is beautiful, higher in elevation, cooler summers and much colder winters. Western Idaho around Boise has more people (but still nothing compared to most urban areas), is wide open, warmer summers, and cold winters (but not as cold as eastern Idaho). Both have beautiful scenery. Either would be a wonderful place.

God bless you, and keep you and yours. Glad to have you with us as an American who understands the value of this land’s blessings, its liberty,. and its constitutional republic...and the culture and faith it has been founded and built upon.

Some of us would include western SD which just happens to border WY and MT. We would do so because we are a haven for political social and fiscal conservatives dedicated to preserving life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Our entire US delegation of two Senators and one Representative is now Republican, as is the State Legislature and the Governor.

Thanks Jeff. I've been an "illegal immigration" protestor since the mid-80's. I saw how Reagan got screwed when he signed on to amnesty, believing that the Dimocrats would honor their word for no more. Yet, here we are again with the Dims an now the RINOS.

I was Navy at the time and my family lived in Chula Vista (3 miles from the border) and I had to chase off illegals as they used our side gate to continue their trek north. I was a dues paying member of FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform) before most realized this was a growing problem.

I have seen entire cities in Southern California turn into Mexican ghettoes, with their gangs and shitty trashy neighborhoods. I have been on the streets protesting; worked with a couple Congressman (Duncan Hunter & Bob Dornan); and was even a Minuteman for a while as I worked with Jim Gilchrist across the freeway and went to Tombstone to patrol.

All that said, I would still have a problem if it were Scots invading our land (my heritage). I don't care about color, creed, or ethnicity. I only care about so many coming here illegally and lowering our standard of living by taking jobs and sucking up our tax dollars for their care.

Last thoughts:
1. Stop the appeal by increased raiding and MAJOR penalties to companies who employ illegals;
2. Build the double fence as we did in California. Ever wonder why AZ and TX has become such a big problem? Our double fence in CA (thanks to Duncan Hunter) decreased crossings by about 90% and pushed the illegal crossings to the above States.
Let the Governors of each State ignore the Fedgov/USSC rulings and enforce their State sovereignty with their own Nation Guard;
3. Increase deportations. No, I don't care about the poor little children who were born here from illegals. Too bad. We can't take in the world's children and maintain our standard of living;
4. STOP giving aid to Mexico and others until they control their borders;
5. Change our visa policies. SO many overstay their visas and disappear into our society;
6. Change our system that allows illegals to work the system. Really? Some 90% of illegals never show for their deportation court hearings. Unacceptable.

I could go on, but mostly re-enforce our current laws about companies hiring illegals. Yes, I know many have forged docs, but e-Verify works if we enforced it. No jobs - no illegals! They will self-deport!

Or, you could have simply found the passage in ‘The Audacity of Hope’.

I'm impressed. You are the kind of immigrant this country used to welcome and I would still welcome. Thank you for going through the process. Thank you for becoming a productive naturalized citizen. YOU are a true American.

It's an insult to all you did that Obambi and others would grant amnesty to those who didn't follow the rules.

Again, thank you for becoming an American citizen. I can't applaud you enough. You're a credit to yourself; to America's ideals; and to your heritage.

Thanks for sharing the interesting story of your grandparents and uncle.

Theodore Roosevelt was right on the mark about immigration.  In my opinion letting some enclaves or some type of Balkanization within a country to flourish it will result in ethnic or racial friction, or worst in a war.  And, that will be the end of that country.   Conforming to the American way of life (assimilation requires time) and English only official language usage should be clearly expected from every immigrant.  This doesn’t jeopardize their cultural, ethnic, or language background.  All they have to understand that they started a new life in a new and different country, and the best for their future is to integrate.

It is very tempting to take in consideration small towns in the states you mentioned, but as we are getting older we like to know that there are some clinics and hospitals close by, just for emergencies.

When we visited Idaho Falls we could not resist driving and seeing again the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole.   Yep, there are beautiful scenery, beautiful mountains, and nice small towns with friendly people.

Thanks again for the Idaho and in general the “bug out” related info.

God bless you, and stay warm!

Regarding the legal immigration points I wrote to you about, I forget to mention that I was required to show some legal papers about who I was (some ID or a Passport).  Luckily I had my Passport with me of which they made a copy for cross reference.    This is another problem with the illegal invaders that no one is asking them about official IDs issued by their country for cross reference with those countries embassies for accuracy and criminal background check.  We have no idea who are these people and the so called amnesty or legalization will not clarify the above point either.

Thank you very much for your kind words.  Yes, you are right, I feel extremely insulted by the Obozo regime.  It is like a slap on my face for feeling and acting respectfully toward America by following the rules and laws to be accepted and to become a law abiding citizen.  At that time I was also told to not even apply if I am just looking for the so called “better life”, and I will have to prove that I was politically persecuted which I did.

Bless you, Sir, and keep the faith and keep fighting for your adopted Country. I admire you so much more than natural citizens that would rather watch many inane reality shows rather pay attention to their loss of liberty.

"...natural citizens that would rather watch many inane reality shows rather pay attention to their loss of liberty."

You are right, and this is the result of the education system. All of it became a Marxist/Progressive propaganda indoctrination system.  No one should be a Union member whose salary is paid by the taxpayer.
