Two presidents have acted unilaterally on immigration - and both were Republican. Ronald Reagan and his successor George H.W. Bush extended amnesty to family members who were not covered by the last major overhaul of immigration law in 1986.
Neither faced the political uproar widely anticipated if and when President Barack Obama uses his executive authority to protect millions of immigrants from deportation.
Reagan's and Bush's actions were conducted in the wake of a sweeping, bipartisan immigration overhaul and at a time when "amnesty" was not a dirty word. Obama is acting as the country - and Washington - are bitterly divided over a broken immigration system and what to do about 11 million people living in the U.S. illegally.q

Thus the leftist desperation for net "neutrality".

Not a valid comparison. The earlier actions were quite limited in scope compared to what is being contemplated.

Reagan and Bush had good economies. Bush and Reagan were working in good faith with both parties in Congress. Reagan and Bush were working with much smaller populations of illegal aliens.
BO is working in a bad economy, with bad blood between him and Congress, AND with many millions more illegals.
Fake journalist Andy isn’t honest enough to delineate differences.

This is from the socialist AP.
if you all believe this then i see the problem ( you are all puppets of the liberal media)
The Constitution makes the presidency and federal government inherently weak
Obama has no authority to do that executive amnesty
this pos Obama is a dictator . we have to protest and strike until he resigns

I wonder why the Rats didn't move to impeach either of them.Reagan and Bush Sr were both quite popular during the terms...maybe that's it.Obola is,OTOH,very,*very* unpopular today,as evidenced by poll numbers *and* events of earlier this month.

Oh, I agree. Let’s see if the media can tell the full story.

The meme is out, even MSNBC will be using the word “Reagan” now as they tell us how Obama is following in his footsteps

I call BS on this one. AP is manipulating the sense of what happened as well today we absolutely know better even though at the time the results of the amnesty were accurately predicted.

The problem has been that they keep “amnestying” people and never get around to securing the border.
Secure the border. Enforce the law. Let the chips fall.

So by that il-logic democrats have no right to speak on race issues. They opposed the end of slavery and the civil rights act and dominated the KKK so have they lost the rights?

AP - The Administrations Press, being in the tank for Progressive socialist policies, salivates for illegal Democratic voters.
They don't care if citizens jobs are taken away, if our votes are taken away or the BILLIONS of our tax monies that have been taken away already.
They salivate to have illegal immigrants to bankrupt our social systems causing a revolution into Socialism or Communism.
Anyone for Illegal Immigration is Against the United States of America. After all, it IS illegal.

AP, once again slavishly trying to protect Obama. I'm certain this is an apples to oranges comparison. But nonetheless, the border is STILL unsecured. We have already been domestically hit by terrorists since Reagan or Bush. And any nation can only assimilate so many at one time. There are estimates of upwards of 50 million illegal immigrants now in this country who will submerge the welfare system if provided amnesty, not to mention culturally undermine the country.
This is all about Obama thumping his chest and proclaiming himself sovereign and creating 50 million more Democrat voters.
