Why?
Because, in the Oriental method, the statement within the question, tells the one answering where they really stand.
Question rephrased: “You are aware, that, under U.S. laws, you are an elected, with a term limit, President, and not a king or sovereign, ARE YOU NOT?”
In the years I spent in Southeast Asia, the discussions that I had with Chinese vendors about Nixon coming to China, were very fruitful. They looked upon our system of electing Presidents, as a baby nation, and still attempting to define our roots, until we have decided that we should have -a- leader for life, as they have had, over the millenia.

For a reporter to ask such a question is foolish. Did he think he would get the truth?
A president can have nearly unlimited power, given the right circumstances - are there any checks and balances on him when martial law is declared?
A president can be voted out of office, a king/emperor must be forced out. That's what popped into my mind when I read the story, I bet Obama was thinking the same.
Only the foreign press would dare ask our Emperor a question like that: our lapdog media is too busy sucking King Obama’s whatzit.
