A senior Navy intelligence officer has been removed from his position due to comments made regarding aggressive Chinese military movements that ran counter to the Pentagons talking points on the issue, according to the Navy Times.
Capt. James Fanell was removed from his position as the director of intelligence and information operations at U.S. Pacific Fleet. Fanell was reassigned within the command.
Though neither the Navy nor Fanell commented on the reason for the personnel change, it is widely believed to be due to an internal investigation of his comments on China, according to the report.
Fanell warned during a February public appearance that a recent Chinese amphibious exercise led naval intelligence to assess that Chinas strategy was to be able to launch a short, sharp war with Japan, an unusually frank assessment about a closely watched region.
His comments, which ran counter to the Pentagons talking points on building ties to the increasingly assertive Chinese navy, were picked up by media outlets from The New York Times and Reuters to Londons Financial Times and Daily Telegraph. Top defense officials, including the 4-star head of the Army and the Pentagon spokesman, were forced to respond to his comment in the following days.

In times of dictatorship, telling the truth is a Revolutionary Act.
It seems that a decade of war hasn’t taught our politicians anything about war.
FYI
The American Public is too stupid to understand....
The smell of the salty sea will wake up sea dogs.
Active Duty ping.
There is almost no way the PRC could seize even one of the Senkaku Islands without also seizing 5 nearby islands which are....
1. 100% uncontested Japanese territory
2. Have 5 airfields, one adequate for the Il-76
3. Are home to over 50,000 Japanese citizens
Bonus:
Some analysts strongly think the PRC would also take OKINAWA.
You know what THAT means...
We can’t have military officers running around telling the truth!
Well we can’t have Naval Intelligence officers speaking the truth...I mean that might get the Chinese bent out of shape...
The biggest airport is Ishigaki airport --let's take a look:

And so he Embarrassed The Boss, which is never a good thing for your career. Unless, of course, The Boss isn't really all that embarrassed, or your career isn't necessarily the most important thing at stake. Somebody just sent somebody else a message.

Zoom in and check out the huge camouflage job on the large apron and road immediately north of the main strip.
Note the many fighters there, now.
Note the camo job on the hangars.
This airbase was made to handle a big surge of a/c —gosh I wonder what they’d be FOR, right...?

You have to admit that Obama is not a complete commie so far.
If this guy was a Soviet intelligence officer issuing ‘provacative’ comments regarding aggressive German military movements in May, 1941, he would have been shot by Stalin before June.
This one took off lightly.
