White House used Mitt Romney health-care law as blueprint for federal law

(Oct 11, 2011) Newly obtained White House records provide fresh details on how senior Obama administration officials used Mitt Romney’s landmark health-care law in Massachusetts as a model for the new federal law, including recruiting some of Romney’s own health care advisers and experts to help craft the act now derided by Republicans as “Obamacare.”

“The White House wanted to lean a lot on what we’d done in Massachusetts,” said Jon Gruber, an MIT economist who advised the Romney administration on health care and who attended five meetings at the Obama White House in 2009, including the meeting with the president.

In addition to Obama himself, the meetings attended by Gruber were presided over by the president’s chief economic adviser, Lawrence Summers, then budget director Peter Orzag and Nancy-Ann DeParle, the president’s chief adviser on health care, the records show. Gruber was also given a $380,000 contract by the Obama administration in 2009 to work with Congress on drafting a new federal law based on the Massachusetts law, records show.

Romneycare was financed a huge chunk by the Feds so it was not just a state initiative. You and I both helped pay for it.

That’s all nice and good but not one single solitary GOP congressman voted for it in the US house or Senate.

And yet those same House members, when given the choice AND the Opportunity to DEFUND this same monstrosity(and fund the rest of the government) ran from the fight like cowards.

So, you have to ask yourself, was their first vote a vote of convenience because they knew the Democrats would take the blame and the passage of Obamacare would please the Chamber of Commerce(two birds with one stone) or was it an act of principle?

So your Ok with the Individual Mandate of RomneyCare and producers having money taken from them and subsidizing those who "cannot afford" Health Insurance?

Let me repeat that.

Are you OK with Socialized Medicine?

Don’t know.

I’m not dumb enough to buy into the tactic of turning this into the republican’s fault.

And you are apparently not smart enough to hold those people who refuse to do the right thing (GOP-E) accountable.

And according to Marco Rubio, conservatives love amnesty!

I honestly believe that CFR types both (D) and (R) all want the same things. This time the establishment/elite dems tricked their people to buy into the Affordable Care Act. The GOP elites and establishment have spent time, money and conservative credentials trying to convince republicans that conservatives really should support amnesty.

Lib dems fell for it and have now been branded by their elites as stupid. It has taken a while but conservatives see right through the GOPe lies and will fight even their own people tooth and nail if they try push amnesty through. The GOPe will call us ignorant racists for doing it, but every one of those traitors knows where he, she or it can go.

They can fool some of the people some of the time, but they can’t fool us any more.

I said nothing about supporting it. I only posted that to show the differences between the two plans. Try as they might, the Dems can’t pin this one on anyone but themselves.

Nothing stupid about pointing out a fact.

I notice your quote leaves out most of my post in order to take what I said out of context.

Guilty conscience?
