(CNSNews.com) - The number of beneficiaries on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program--food stamps--has now topped 46,000,000 for 36 straight months, according to new data released by the Department of Agriculture (USDA).
From September 2011 through August 2014, the latest month for which data is available, the number of persons participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has exceeded 46 million.
In August 2014, according to USDA, there were 46,484,828 beneficiaries of the SNAP program. That was down slightly—2,060 beneficiaries—from the 46,486,888 who got food stamps in July.

Are more Americans in poverty or did the bar get lowered to get food stamps, like the bar for getting SSDI was lowered? (Ya know, the more people dependent on Big Government, the more they will vote to keep getting the money.)

And yet they all have the latest smartphone and can afford tattoos, cigarettes, Air Jordans and lottery tickets.
And yet their kids are going hungry, why don’t they feed their children? We are constantly bombarded with ads to feed the kids.
And all these folks are eligible for an Obama-phone.
Anyone on any form of public assistance should not be allowed to vote.
There are other more effective and efficient programs, but the politicians (and large corporations like WalMart) don’t want to hear about it. Because there is nothing in it for them.
This one's my favorite...it's from my beloved home state."DTA" stands for "Department of Transitional Assistance" (aka:the welfare office).The funny thing about that department is that here it seems to take generations for "families" to transition from welfare parasite to productive citizen and those efforts are almost always doomed to failure.
Recently there have been to controversies regarding these cards.One was a proposal that the recipient photo should be on the card.But there were cries of "racism" so that was scrapped.The other is whether or not these cards should be usable at Connecticut and Atlantic City casinos (which they routinely are) and whether or not they should be used as bail money (which they sometimes are)?
The answer to those questions,in the end,was "yes".Big surprise!

That used to be true. My dad, a farmer, hired “braceros”. Now, we give in to their demands ... A la Obama.
I really hate going to the grocery these days. Every time I go, I see healthy, well-dressed people buying huge amounts of food on my dime. Most are Holder’s people. Lots of them drive new-looking Chevys. There must be some give-away program that I’m not familiar with. GM is 0bama’s baby, after all.
