For six years, the mainstream press has been operating on a Sort of God meme for president Obama. They turned off their normally skeptical investigative journalist mode spinning and supporting him for three quarters of a full presidency; even saying criticism of his policies was racist.
It was Even Thomas, a Newsweek editor, who may have started the meme speaking with Chris Matthew's Hardball. June of 2009 he spoke in pure adulation I mean in a way Obamas standing above the county, above above the world, hes sort of God. Also June of that year; the [Chicago] Sun Times put these words under Obamas picture We just like to say his name. We are considering taking is as a mantra. Even the Danish press Politiken , that year, glommed onto the action Obama is, of course, greater than Jesus .
Hotairs Allapundit in Aprils headline (this year) contained "Lets face it, pretty much all criticism of Obama is racist".
As for spinning and supporting, when Obama said You didnt build that, speaking of Businesses Times Mark Halperin said there's nothing to it. When Hillary similarly gaffed Dont let anybody tell you that its corporations and businesses that create jobs US News and World Report recently said She didnt fumble that. Can you imagine them defending Republican presidents saying the same thing? The Mainstream Press was spinning like a top.
However, a crack in that meme has recently appeared as Harrold Fineman speaking on Chris Matthews show said the era of Obama is over. So maybe the sort of God meme may be dying but the spinning is not.
Recently when asked about the Mid-Term Shellacking, during his press conference, Obama refused to define it now as he had defined it as taking a shellacking in 2010. Newsweek defense of Obamas Shellacking was shellacking . [Obama] signaled that he would not shift his overall agenda or priorities and no quote of him taking it as in 2010. Would a Conservative been treated so well? Not a Snowballs chance in H !
So do I expect the Sort of God meme of Obama to continue in the mainstream press? Yes, I do, as I expect they will have to build his progressive legacy in terms of his premier achievement Obamacare
Do I expect the mainstream press spinning and defending this president to continue? Yes, I do as the sort of God meme demands it.
What will these memes continue to do to the mainstream press? Ah, now that is another story, but I hope they continue as they deserve the results.
Dear Gawd.
Now Baal is irrelevant?
What shall we do?
I mean in a way Obamas standing above the county, above above the world, hes sort of God
Acts 12:
21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.
'Republican/Tea Party/Conservatories Bad - Democrats/Liberals/Progressives - Good'
The slobbering PR of the so-called "Fourth Estate" would make Leni Riefenstahl blush.
The media is reaping what the progressive democrats have sown. As the oldsters in media die and retire, they are replaced with graduates of public schools and universities whose journalistic efforts barely rate placement in low-effort high school newsletters. We see proof of this daily in all media. Illiterate incompetence cannot be hidden nor explained away, it is everywhere, in all media.
This was turned off in 1933 and never re-started.
It’s not Illiterate incompetence but Journalistic Malpractice. I don’t think Journalistic school teach avoidance of Memes any more.
Did you hear about the dyslexic athiest narcissistic insomniac?
Stayed awake at night wondering if he really is dog.
Nope, it was full ON for NIXON, FORD, REAGAN, George H and W BUSH.
Let’s hope they do.
A quibble: That Allahpundit headline was in 2009 and was a quote from Keith Olbermann. Note that the pattern of crying racism first was already well in place less than eight months after Obama’s inauguration.

Great Point.
Daniel 11 addresses the distant future from his time:
36. And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
37. Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
38. But in his estate shall he honor the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
39. Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.
40. And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
41. And he shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.
42. He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
43. But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
44. But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.
45. And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
