Woo-Hoo Marine Corps!

Thanks Ma for tonight's Canteen!

In 1976 some Marines were training at the same Ft. Sill, OK Field Artillery school I was attending. Man, those Marine DI's pushed those poor Marines, we heard that DI barking orders at 2:00 AM calling them out for formation, LOL, gotta love the Marine Corps!

Spooky. My father lived from 1925-2002 and was a Marine in three wars. Wonder if they knew each other?

America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi!

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Good luck with the adjusting!

Glad the clouds parted. Were you a quartet?

Yes...a quartet today.
Bass, drums, electric guitar, and harmonica.

We had a baby in the congregation today, and a border collie.

Both were bouncing along with the music!

Quite different from a quartet featuring two violins, a viola and a cello. Here's a movement from one of my favorite quartets. It's deliciously wild.

Beethoven: Quartet in C, Op. 59/3, finale

No. Just “allegro molto”. It’s one of Beethoven’s favorite “fast” markings.

The prestississimo was not that difficult for me - our Conductor, Bob Schafer taught us a few tricks and we drilled until we got it right. What always gave me problems were the decrescendos and pianississimos. I agree with Fred Begun, tympanist for the National Symphony - he used to wear a t-shirt to rehearsal with the legend "Loud Is Good!"

With the WWI centennial and Armistice Day coming up, I’ll have to bring back Elgar’s Quintet for Piano and Strings in A minor tomorrow night with commentary. It’s his 1919 reaction to what happened to the men of the British Empire who went off to fight and didn’t come back.

Thanks, Mac, for the Missing Man Setting as we remember those who have given their all that we may gather safe and secure.
