NOTE: she challenged Algore in 2000 over Clinton's rape of Juanita Broaddrick at a town hall event in New Hampshire; in 2000 she challenged Hillary in New York and delivered letter from Bill Clinton's rape victim, Juanita Broaddrick; she later challenged Hillary face to face at an outdoor event over Broaddrick (and Hillary claimed to never have heard of Juanita) and the Secret Service detail escorted Kath from the premises; she and her husband hosted me when I made an East Coast trip to show HILLARY! EMAIL FROM KATH:
Hi Doug, I am so happy! I was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives by the people of Derry on Tuesday. I have always wanted to run for this office, I did a few years ago but lost narrowly in the primary. I felt like I had no choice but to run again, I had to do this. The only thing that ever stopped me from doing it earlier was trying to figure out how to balance it and my work at home with my family. I was hearing so many complaints about the state of the country and of our state, I felt like I had to do something. So many days, it seems like the world has turned upside down.
Of course the economy is a huge issue, and how the government is making it much harder for anyone to run a business. Many people also told me they were concerned about voter fraud. The first thing I did when I learned I had won was call our Secretary of State to discuss why things are the way they are here and how we can improve it. He is concerned about this too. This afternoon we talked for about an hour. He is a Democrat and I am a Republican, but I honestly can't think of anyone in our state government more widely respected on all sides of the political spectrum. Talking to him was like trying to drink from a fire hydrant, he has so much insight on this complex issue. I have a lot to study and many other people to talk to about this. I cant wait to get started. I also want to focus on our manufacturing industry, how to support growth in that important but often overlooked segment of our economy, educational choice and lowering the tax(and fee) burden on the people and businesses of our state.
There has been a lot of talk about some of the other races in our state, specifically the Jeanne Shaheen and Scott Brown US Senate race. Why did Brown lose? Well, people were concerned with three big things. The carpetbagger issue was real. People felt like he was doing this for him, not our state. I had to promise that I had lived in the state for two or more years to run for the state house (and if I had only lived here the minimum amount of time, two years, I would have lost the race for the state rep.) No such requirement is made of those running for the US Senate. The Republican candidate for governor also was dogged by this carpetbagging issue. Second, second amendment activists did not support Brown, even campaigned against him in the primary, and they are a very important constituency in this state. Third, many people told me they felt like Brown was pushed on them by party insiders, decision makers from on high. Republicans around here obsess about keeping it real. It's ironic because Brown's success in Mass was due to his being so authentic-and he was, in Massachusetts, at that moment in time.
I like to discuss the specifics of those races because people from outside the state are sayinjg we have turned a hard blue and there is no coming back to red. That's not the real story.
So, you know how I can be a little bold sometimes and outspoken? My high school teachers used to say that I shoot from the hip. That got me in a little "trouble"this campaign season. I got annoyed with some local GOP leaders about a point of conscience to me (such inside baseball, and a long, boring story if you don't know the players so I won't get into it). We had a tiff and they removed me from the advertisement in the newspaper for GOP candidates just before the election.
This made me wonder how I would do, I had some doubts about whether or not I had enough publicity late in the game to win this election. Turns out that was fine , Republicans swept the house and senate here but I was prepared to lose the race because I wouldn't compromise my principles. Doing the right thing still matters. So, winning was especially sweet after that.
Thanks for your support too. :)
Great!
I know that I get to hang out anonymously here on FreeRepublic with some pretty cool people. Its’ nice every now and then to see who it is, and sort of share in their successes.

Live FReep or Die?..........................
Doug, wonderful news.
I remember Kathleen well from the 2000 events. She is one gutsy lady.
I am happy for her that she has been given this opportunity to serve in the NH legislature.
As I recall, she became a Freeper back then.
Please give her our best wishes.
Congrats. One of our own is in public office. This is wonderful news.
Please forward my congratulations to Katherine.
WONDERFUL NEWS!
Indeed!
She also nailed the reason Scott Brown lost.
Outstanding!
Good. NH needs some work. “Live Free or Die” is something of a joke now.
As I recall, at one time I think it was KPfromDerryNH
Doug, that was it.
