Fox News obliterated its cable news competition during Tuesday night's election coverage, and did so by humiliating margins. However, co-hosts Megyn Kelly and Bret Baier not only vanquished CNN and MSNBC into oblivion, the dynamic duo also beat their broadcast network competition -- in both total viewers and the all-important 25-54 age demo:
According to Nielsen Media Research, Fox News Channel beat CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC and ABC's coverage in both total viewers and in the 25-to-54-year-old demographic.
Co-anchored by Bret Baier and Megyn Kelly, the channel's election coverage averaged 6.3 million viewers during prime time.
CNN was the second most watched news network, with 2.1 million viewers during prime time. MSNBC came in third with about 1.7 million viewers.
Basically, Fox News not only beat CNN and MSNBC combined, Fox almost doubled the combined viewership of its left-wing cable competition.
This is no surprise. Bret Baier hosts "Special Report," which has been the finest newscast found anywhere and in any format since Brit Hume launched it in 1998, and Megyn Kelly is the biggest star in news, cable or otherwise.
Meanwhile, over at CNN you had Wolf Blitzer co-anchoring -- a man America was already tired of in 1995 -- while Jake Tapper (who should've been front and center) was relegated to sometimes anchor/contributor status. If I knew anything about sports, I would end this paragraph with an awesome metaphor.
Co-anchoring MSNBC was Chris Matthews, who's so played out even his meltdowns have lost their kick.
The racket of bundled cable, though, means never having to say youre sorry. MSNBC and CNN arent motivated to up the game because they don't have to. Whether you watch CNN and MSNBC or not, both networks make hundreds of millions just by being available in your home.

Brett would be a new man if he would allow his curls to flow from his head. I think having his mommy plaster them almost flat with gel every day is very demoralizing for him.
Why would anyone be watching Fox last election night? What a waste!
Everyone on FR knows that MSNBC was the place to be last Tuesday evening.
It was like watching the Hindenburg crash in flames for three hours straight. Best ratings they ever had.
Toward the end of their coverage, she left and brought back two coin-operated candy/nut machines. She put quarters in to get chocolate-covered almonds. During one break she gave some to Brett and then when they came back live told him he had a piece stuck between his teeth. Don't know whether he did or not but he did look embarrassed.
at least fox news is entertaining
NONE of the other stations has an equal to the beauty of Megan Kelly nor the handsomeness of Brent Baier. Not to mention they have great personalities and don’t take themselves too seriously. I goes without saying they were having a lot of fun on Tuesday night watching the dems take a beating.
Megyn went off script in the 11:00 hour. Figuring with Republicans capturing the senate they were having fun. I particularly liked Rove, Tripi and Wallace in cowboy garb.
Somewhere in between all of this I turned on MSNBC. They were making fun of Schultz and his election day picks.
All in all a great night.
Whatever happened to America’s primer Alpha male anyway? Isn’t he scheduled for Terminator 5 as Arnie’s replacement by now?
He did give his all for the agenda so where’s his reward? They all get one.
I watched CNN EXCLUSIVELY just to watch the commies suffer. Schadenfreude is awesome!
“CNN coverage was better, IMO.”
I found their bottom-of-the-screen vote graphics easier to read than Fox’s.
Fox News at least tries to be fair and balanced. NBC/CBS/ANC/CNN/MSNBC/NPR are channeling DNC talking points.
And she released that. Imagine the logic (heh) that arrived at that decision.
Megan Kelly and Carl Rove were unwatchable for more than a few minutes at a stretch. I switched to CNN.
None of them are available in MY home. :-)
I like FNC coverage except the crawler (at bottom of screen) was hard to read.
Why would anyone turn on ABC for election night when ABC News hadnt mentioned the elections for over 3 months??
LOL. Even more shocking...1.7 MM MSNBC viewers...? Really?
With 57 states that’s about 29,824 viewers per state.
Heh.
