McConnell Should Defund the White House if Obama Tries Amnesty
Breitbart ^ | 6 Nov 2014, 6:13 AM PDT | Joel B. Pollak

There were two messages from Republicans on the morning after their sweeping victory in the 2014 midterm elections. One was that voters had elected Republicans to stop President Barack Obama's agenda. The other was that voters had elected Republicans to depose Harry Reid and break the gridlock in Congress. Both messages are correct, and reconciling them will be the toughest task facing new Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

he first, and decisive, test will be Obama's proposed executive amnesty, through which--it is suggested--he may try to defer indefinitely the deportations of millions of people who broke the law to enter and/or stay in the United States. Alarmingly, McConnell failed to mention to topic of amnesty in his joint op-ed with Speaker of the House John Boehner in his Thursday morning op-ed in the Wall Street Journal setting their new agenda.

At Wednesday's postmortem press conference, Obama was not asked whence he might derive the constitutional authority for his proposed executive orders--what the tech sector calls, euphemistically, "administrative relief." He has no such authority. Yet it is difficult to see how Obama can be stopped, since impeachment is well off the table, and since the House of Representatives' lawsuit on related matters has turned out to be a bit of a joke.

McConnell, furthermore, has tied his own hands by promising that he will not threaten or use a government shutdown to enforce Congress's will. Conservatives are seething at that tactical retreat, pointing out the the 2013 shutdown had no effect on the GOP's electoral fortunes. Yet the more basic problem is that a shutdown is not a credible threat, simply because there are too many GOP Senators up for re-election in blue states in 2016. . .

There's a reason the GOP was put in charge. If McConnell lacks the fortitude to follow through, let's turn it over to someone who will.

Ditch McConnell and get someone as speaker of the Senate that has gonads. McConnell is too weak.

Political Party is the problem. The politicians no longer care about who and why they were elected. They care more about their party and the always looming next election than they do the United States of America.

They no longer serve the will of the voters.

Funs over. I have no doubts that the GOP will blow it all.

Republicans have to refuse to send a budget that includes 0bamacare.

That will shut down the government.

They have to call 0bama’s main bluff, or 0bama will win everything for the next 2 years.

McConnell is OWNED by the Chamber of Commerce. Only Cruz, and 4 other patriots have the ability to stop him.

I'm sure that Obama would sign a budget bill that defunds the White House.

Get real.

I'll bet that they'd get better results if they put 0 and Mooch on a "Jet Fuel" allowance.

Decide on an amount and tell the grifters "when it' s gone, you walk or you pay the freight".

AF1's been nothing but an expensive taxi for Mooch, his old lady and the kids since they rolled into town.

Open Letter to Mitch McConnell

Congratulations on your win. It is commendable that you were able to keep another liberal Democrat from gaining a foothold in the US Senate. For that, you deserve thanks and credit.

Now, though, after the huge Republican win, it’s time for you to recuse yourself from consideration for the Majority Leader position.

Unfortunately you have been too divisive and polarizing over the past year.

Your extreme comments against fellow Republicans make it such that you’ve spent too much goodwill among the whole Big Tent.

Your comments in fact amount to a conflict of interest in leading the whole of the Republican Party in the Senate.

Your being Leader would prove counterproductive and not be the best way forward for efficient and pro-active Conservative movement.

Thank you Senator McConnell, in advance, for doing what is best for the nation and taking yourself out of consideration for Majority Leader.

Congress should act in a positive manner by immediately approving the KL pipeline, and getting Canada to join the discussion. The pipeline is a winner supported by a heavy majority of Americans. It’s benefits are jobs, security and cheaper energy.

Force Obama to decide! If he vetoes, he will be even more isolated. There is no way for him to win on this issue. Only America can win, which means he is screwed.

This will show who obstructs prosperity and security in America!

Hoodat? Thus far, we've not seen anyone put forward by the GOPe that will actually follow a hardline Constitutional stance.

“Thus far, we’ve not seen anyone put forward by the GOPe that will actually follow a hardline Constitutional stance.”..

Exactly. We should not expect McConnell to be the person to meet odumbo head on, he doesn’t have it in him. There are Repubs that COULD stand up to odumbo but the rhinos are more worried about gaining the presidency in 2016 than stopping odumbo in his tracks today. There has been amply opportunity to have done so by the house and they failed to act, what makes anyone think the senate will do any better?
