Democtratic Disaster casts shadow on Nancy Pelosi
SFGate News ^ | November 5, 2014 | Carolyn Lochhead

All but overlooked in the Republican Senate landslide is the double-digit loss of seats for Democrats in the House. The outcome casts a cloud on House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s future, potentially throwing the House out of reach for Democrats in 2016 and dashing Pelosi's dream of serving as House speaker with a President Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Democrats lost at least 14 seats Tuesday. Because gerrymandering has reduced the number of competitive House districts to roughly 50, or barely 10 percent of the 435 seats, the climb back for Democrats is going to be monumentally steep. Republicans now hold their biggest majority since Harry Truman was president in 1946, and if the numbers climb as final results come in, the party could break records going back to the 1930s. So big was the GOP wave that Michael Grimm, an indicted Republican congressman from Staten Island, was re-elected.

All this comes on top of the Democratic landslide loss of 63 House seats in 2010 that toppled San Francisco's Pelosi, now 73, from the speakership. Pelosi defied tradition by staying on as minority leader despite the humiliating losses, determined, she said, to see the Affordable Care Act implemented, a legislative victory attributable to her as much as President Obama.

Problem is, she did bring in Mucho dollars for the party - that’s all she’s good for at this time ...

I wonder if Steny Hoyer is going to challenge her.

He isn’t getting any younger, and San Fran Nan is certifiable.

Actually, I see her as an asset to the GOP. Many folks, including me, see her as a nut case. She’s more a point of ridicule and even a sad character to more and more observers. I say, let her stay where she’s at as a face of the Democrats.

Can’t cast a shadow on somebody who is already in the shadows. She will die of old age before she would resign, as she represents a “safe district” in which there is no possibility of a successor, much like the “safe district” that protects Charlie Rangel.

Nobody much available to take her place as Minority Leader either. Primarily because the thought of even challenging such a fixture is anathema to the minority party. The Democrats will simply double down on her, so she could keep the wage premium as Minority Leader as a perk until death do they part.

They could always get that bus driver running Venezuela to take her place, he would be wildly popular with the rest of the communists in the House and the degenerate parasitic scumbags that vote for them.

“President Hillary Rodham Clinton”

While I am hopeful, I really expect McConnell and Boehner to either over or under step and screw up so bad that The Democrats could win in 2916 with Maxine Waters as their nominee.

she said, to see the Affordable Care Act implemented, a legislative victory attributable to her as much as President Obama.

The first act the Republicans have to do is to vote out the Employer Mandate. Thus making the Democrats and Fancy Nancy own it completely. Otherwise the Democrats will blame Republicans for Obamacares evil fallout.

Why doesn't she retire w/ all the wealth she has accumulated in office---what with insider trading, earmarks and secret offshore accounts overflowing w/ federal funds.

YAHOO.COM POSTED---Pelosi is the sole owner of Zinfandel Lane Vineyard in St. Helena and Skellenger Lane Vineyard in Napa. She also has shares in Ernest and Julio Gallo (which is one of the biggest operations in the valley). Although she's not the majority owner. From a quick google, she's pairing up with Beckstoffer Vineyards.

According to independent auditors, her wealth is comparable to Ted Kennedy (whose father made it in Scotch imports). She's worth *at least* several hundred million. This is why conservatives accuse her of hypocrisy when she does her sthick against millionaires. In truth, she's far, far wealthier than most of them.

Most of the Pelosi family fortune is invested in large corporations. Details are hard to come by. But she has known ties to many businesses, including liquor companies, the insurance industry, casinos, and real estate. So, everytime you go to Reno or Las Vegas, you're probably giving her money any way. There's no way to avoid it.

She claims to be an owner of the Restaurant at the luxury Meadowood Resort Spa.

Not gonna happen. Because America is chock full of employers (I have personal knowledge of at least a dozen in my small city) who can hardly wait until 2017 when they can cancel their company based plans and push all their employees onto Obamacare.

They dream at night of removing health care costs from their financial statements, they are x-ing off the days on the calendar....

73? When Reagan was 73, he was inaugurated for his second term. And Pelosi was probably bitching about how he was too old.
