How is there even a legal case?
She wrote about these things which happened with her sister. She wrote it in her book. Her book is publicly available. The site is quoting what she wrote in her book. Someone tell me where any sort of legal violation, or legal libel/slander/accusations of any kind are involved.
She’s getting reactive and upset since she probably got a call from HBO with a hysterical television executive on the phone.
Makes for a great basis for tort reform legislation. Multimillion suit against media to supress factual info. All based on agenda. Chilling effects. Oh yea. Sue baby. SUE!!!
She does not have a hoof to stand on.
There isn't remotely a legal claim there. If she is foolish enough to file a lawsuit, it will be bounced long before there is any discovery or a trial.
Technically, it’s not her own words being quoted - she described being “curious”, and the website is the one actually calling it sexual abuse in their title. So there may be grounds for complaint.
That said, given everything else about Lena Dunham’s past history, there may very well be other sexual skeletons that she doesn’t want to come out, which would in Discovery.
How brave is Truth Revolt? Ready to call a bluff?
Plus, it seems like the media lines up where you'd expect them to. Because the big media likes Lena, they'll take her side in a big way, so she wins in the big media's court of public opinion.
Ironically, Lena Dunham's approach to this is what gets attacked as a "rich White guy" argument -- "Because of who I am, I can't be a sexual abuser; it's other people who do that (even when she does it herself), other less privileged people who the derogatory label applies to."
