Clay Aiken came in second yet again.
The American Idol and Celebrity Apprentice runner-up was defeated by incumbent Rep. Renee Ellmers in Tuesday's election, losing his bid to represent North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District, The Associated Press reports.
Aiken, 35, won the Democratic nomination after his opponent in the race died suddenly during the primary campaign. If the Idol alum had won, he would have been the first openly gay congressman elected in the South.
AND, if Flipper had won, it would have been the first aquatic mammal elected in the United States. What's your point?
LOL!
Just like in the music industry, Clay didn’t blow the right people to get ahead. Pun intended.
With Abortion Barbie and Sandra Fluke both losing huge, it was a tough night for media sweethearts..
Is Ruben Studdard now a Republican Congressman from North Carolina? Damn, Clay can’t catch a break!! This guy follows him everywhere!!!
Guess watching Brokeback Mountain 35 times wasn’t much of a resume.
Where’s his crying concession speech?
But his gay diva act was funny to read about. Diddn’t Mattera get roughed up bu his security detail not long ago?
This election was a rejection of liberalism.
Gat Aiken wasn’t able to get into that seat he was trying to get into. Pun intended.
Poor little poof. Bet some new panties will cheer him up.
Gay Aiken
Myself and a couple of other FReepers used that exact phrase on our posts. Is TV Guide cribbing content from FR now?

“Poof goes the poofer!”
Now THAT’S funny right there!
Turns out that Aiken’s failed run is being made into a reality TV series.
It wasn’t a political campaign; it was a career move.
I was wondering about “gay” Clay. Thought that if he had won, the Gaystapo would never stop crowing about it, so no news was good news after all.
The possibilities are endless, aren't they.
Don't get me started.
