There are six states with constitutions that dont explicitly protect the right of the people to keep and bear arms. The last state to add such a protection was Wisconsin, in 1998. The last stage of the process to amend the Badger States founding document was via a referendum and it passed with an overwhelming 74% of the vote. The sorry six that still lack enshrinement of the RKBA are listed below. And it wont surprise you that these states are some of the least supportive of gun ownership and Second Amendment rights . . .

Take a guess and then scroll down to see if you are right. Also read the article to see how each state has rationalized their way to keep guns out of our hands.
If you want to hear how AZ keeps us armed and free, listen to the excellent Charles Heller, a local conservative talk show host on late Sunday mornings 10:AM Liberty Watch and 12pm American Armed and Free
He is also one of the most informed and intelligent interviewers on the radio. Upload his podcast, they are very intellectually stimulating.

One of his most distressing subjects is how in AZ you don’t need no stinking open carry licence, but if you show or brandish your gun to ward away someone who is threatening you, they could call the police on you, and then the legal hell begins.
Now here are the states:
New York
New Jersey
California
Marilyn
Minnesota
Iowa
Marilyn???
It’s the 57th state in the Union.
Just south of Nancy.
When I visited New Orleans once, I kept hearing references to a town called Nawlins.
Once I realized that it was the local pronunciation of New Orleans, all became clear.
...”but if you show or brandish your gun to ward away someone who is threatening you, they could call the police on you, and then the legal hell begins.”
This happened to a good friend of mine in FL who was being harassed by some useless P’sOS while driving home with his kids. He eventually stopped and got out of his car to confront them. They called the cops and he was arrested. The prosecuter in the county wanted to make an example of this former Eagle scout and a name for herself. With his world crumbling around him and his career on the line and likely a min 5 yeear jail sentence, he drove to the county court house one evening and 12 gauged himself. Shocked? I sure was. And deeply saddened. The folks who called him in were well known trouble makers in the area and had previous run ins with LEO’s. Think the had any remorse? Not likely.
Their failure is an assent of the US Constitution.
If these same states enacted laws mandating the quartering of troops by citizens, would that pass Constitutional muster? Of course not.
And neither does this.
hopefully the six derelict states will reform their constitutions ASAP. We are on your side for sure...
Still and all..... the larger battle is just getting the US Constitution followed, complied with, respected.
(!)
No second amendment, but it does have a Monroe doctrine.
Of course the big variable in AZ is Indian reservations. Some tribes follow state law and some have their own restrictions which, at least in terms of enforcement, are not necessarily the same for tribal members and non-members.
Why does Iowa surprise you? Iowa is a blue state. The only difference between Iowa and Minnesota is Iowa does not share a border with Canada.

Caught my goof. So funny!
“Local variant pronunciation of Maryland....”

“Murelund” is the variant I hear most around here.
The federal 1000’ school boundary exclusion does not apply to citizens of the state in question if they have a CCW permit issued by that state. But, they still can’t carry ON school grounds, but they can carry within 1000’ feet of those grounds.
Are you saying that Iowa is also overrun with Somalians and is an exporter of Jihadis?
