‘The president didn’t care about it enough to make a simple phone call’
A group of politicians’ efforts to secure the release of Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi from a Mexican jail paid off Friday night. California Rep. Dana Rohrabacher says President Obama was “AWOL” throughout the process.
The Republican Congressman told The Washington Times on Saturday that he and California RepublicanRep. Ed Royce, former New MexicoGov. Bill Richardson, and Arizona RepublicanRep. Matt Salmon took it upon themselves to fight for Mr. Tahmooressi when President Obama did not.
“The president, who is also the commander in chief, didn’t do his job,” Mr. Rohrabacher said. “There is a lack of concern for this man, for this American hero who served our country. As commander in chief he showed a total disdain and non-interest in an American hero who served us in Afghanistan and a total disregard for the fact that he was suffering.”
Mr. Rohrabacher said that while the Counsel General in Tijuana and members of congress were mobilized to try to save Mr. Tahmooressi, Mr. Obama had gone “AWOL” in the battle.
“The president not stepping forward was a slap in the face to veterans,” Mr. Rohrabacher said. “The president didn’t care about it enough to make a simple phone call.”

I wouldn’t be surprised to find out Obama WAS in touch with Mexico at the last moment, to try to THWART this release.
Of course he was AWOL. He has no love for our brave soldiers, period.
A good point, I also wouldn’t be surprised for the turkey to try and take some credit for it soon.
If I were president, I would have cut off all remittances of money from the US to Mexico till he was released.

I commend Rohrabacher for telling it like it is. I doubt that Taco Bill would do that, although I’m glad he tried to get the sgt. released.
Mexico locked him up and Mexico should pay the Sarge for wrongful arrest and for injuries sustained in jail.
I say mexico owes the Sarge $1000 per day.
I think Obola offered the Mejicanos half a dozen Gitmo detainees in return, which would then have free access to the Arizona border and Obolacare.
My thoughts as well. Was surprised Bill got involved but commend him for doing so as well as Williams and the others who kept trying to get him back.

I couldn’t agree more! I’ve been saying this almost from the beginning. Every indication is that he’s not very bright. I differ from many in thinking Valerie Jarrett isn’t that sharp either. Both have benefited from a fawning, protective media. If for one day they faced the kind of onslaught Bush faced for eight solid years, both would emerge looking shell-shocked & clueless.
