Military retirement and SS payments is not “double or triple” dipping if the person fulfilled obligations for both programs. If FICA was taken from their pay, they earned and qualified for it. Because we are now searching for ways to SUSTAIN entitlement programs for bums who don’t want to work is not a reason to take it from the hide of those who did.
So many of these writers are triple stupid.
“...if the person fulfilled obligations for both programs...”
Hey, you’re challenging the latest attempt to portray all veterans who draw benefits as equal to the rest of the federal assistance crowd.
I wonder if this office has bothered to check and publish all the congress’ retirement benefits, and their medical care package and how much money goes to that waste of a group who, UNlike the military, does NOT do their job of protecting and defending the Constitution.
I look forward to the day when people lay off the military.
LBJ started this in many ways.
As far as I know....the only federal workers exempted from SS are the railway guys, who have a totally different deal.
I don’t see what the deal is...a guy finishes twenty years at age 39, and continues to work another twenty odd years, and forced to pay into FICA. I’ve paid almost 16 years on top of what I paid for the military time. I expect my social security money like everyone else. If it’s “bad”...then they ought to refund the whole amount I’ve paid to me....in cash (I’ll know exactly how to invest right).
Your comment is correct. Most military retire @ 20 yrs, does anybody expect these 40-somethings to sit around jobless until they die?
Can not say it any better then Gaffer did, but cut it down.
If you earned it you should get it. Isn’t that how America works?
