Turns out Congressman Matt Salmon (R,AZ) and Bill Richardson (D-Rat, NM) former governor had a hand in the release. It’s about the only thing I give Richardson credit for. Of course, since he’s been involved in so many crooked deals and cronyism, this was probably just another but with a much better outcome.

I had the idea that the reason Richardson was involved was because he was a spanish-speaking politician. Don’t know Salmon, but Ed Royce (R-CA) was also involved.

Richardson was interviewed on Fox & Friends this morning. Apparently the main reason why he became involved is that he had previously had a hand in negotiations for release of other US citizens from North Korea and Iran. He was careful not to discuss the lack of involvement by the administration; however, he indicated that someone from the state department (Roberta - ? didn’t catch her last name) was involved. Of course, no mention of Kerry or Obama. Also, they said that the private jet was “his” (not clarifying whether it was his personally or whether he had chartered it).
