Trick or treat! Okay, forget about the treat. The New York Times has only a trick for the Texas Tribune in the form of the termination of their partnership.
Is this just a coincidence that the Halloween announcement which appeared in the Texas Tribune is happening just before the election in which it appears that the campaign of Democrat gubernatorial candidate appears to have imploded, destroying what many suspect was the not so subtle effort by the Texas Tribune to turn that state blue? We shall look into that effort but first the Halloween trick just handed to the Texas Tribune:

Oh my. I quit counting last year at 68 and those were just the ones that live on my street and the two adjoining ones!
Wow. We typically get between 70 and 130 kids each year (last year was 91). Part of it might be word of mouth that we’re generous with the candy, but I suspect we would get a decent wave regardless.

non-partisan my big toe
I guess it has served its purpose for the NY Times and WashPost and they no longer need it as a source.
We normally have 60 plus, have had 90. We do have some from other neighborhoods.
We have two new families with small children on the block, so we may have an uptick this year.
I have none of my own so I don’t bother.
Ours are grown and gone, but we still have fun. I wear my Königin der Nacht costume (sometimes the grownups recognize the aria - I always quit before I get to the high F) and my husband dresses up as the Mad Scientist, complete with slide rule and a frog in his pocket.
This time last year I had just been to the dentist a week earlier so I sat out. Today I don’t have that problem but it’s just me here anyway.
Nobody says you have to participate! My husband had foot surgery recently, so I’ll be manning the door . . .
Well, I loved Halloween growing up, and the kids in costumes are cute but no one comes on our street anyway.
Right at sunset we had a cold rain set in . . . we got 8 or 10 hardy trick-or-treaters but that was all!
I recently wound up with a very large Chinese gong - I rang it nice and loud when I opened the door - everybody liked that!
It’s going to rain - possibly very heavily - in TX on election day.
Well, Halloween came and went and NO kids showed up last night Trick or Treating so I guess I figured right not to buy candy.
We had 98, it started slow, we usually have toddlers before it gets dark. Last night we got our first 3 at 6:55 and two minutes later a group 16. We shut down shortly after 8. 98 not couting parents and oloder children escorting younger siblings. Better and more elaborate costumes than normal and no hazmat suits or islamic terrorists.
