Wife of Alan Grayson, named 17th richest member of Congress, receiving food stamps to feed his kids

Not that the timing makes it any more egregious, but six days after being named the 17th richest member of Congress, it’s being reported that U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson‘s estranged wife has been issued an EBT card to help feed his children.

Lolita Grayson was approved for public assistance by the state of Florida, and their four minor children — they have five children altogether — are also enrolled in the free lunch program in Orange County schools, according to ABC affiliate WFTV.

The stay-at-home mom was asked if she ever thought she’d be on food stamps.

“No,” Lolita responded. “Never, because my husband, he’s been the sole provider for me for the last 29 years.”

In filing for public assistance, Lolita said her monthly income consisted of $592 per child.

Grayons’ attorney attributed her actions to politics the week before an election, telling WFTV his client pays about $10,000 a month for the mortgage, utilities and phone bill for the home. “This is abusing the public,” attorney Mark Nejame said. “She’s going out and asking for support because she can’t support herself on $120,000? That’s outrageous.”

Married to the bombastic congressman for 24 years, she filed for divorce early this year and it didn’t take long for things to get messy. There was a physical altercation at their home a short time later — she accused Grayson of battering her and he countered by saying she hit him. He would later charge his wife with bigamy while filing for an annulment of their 24-year marriage.

The Democratic lawmaker, a former trial lawyer, is not paying spousal support because he says the marriage was never valid because of the bigamy charge, WFTV reported.

This is why we lose elections. Instead of cheering her on to take down a huge anti-American troublemaker who will affect the lives of both you and me, you choose to defend this creep.

"There is NO PHOTO (that I can find) of Lolita."

Above are three I could find.

“same with pete stark’s first wife”

You would ruin my morning coffee by bringing up that bastard’s name.
Stark’s first wife, Carolyn Wente, daughter of the winemaking family, hates him with a passion. The really good news is that his bank building in Walnut Creek has been torn down and replaced with a newer structure without the peace symbol. When you go to the dictionary and look up “POS,” Stark’s picture is there to show you what a POS looks like.

Never mind the “he said - she said” aspect of this.

What sort of jerk seeks annulment of a 24 year marriage with 5 children produced.

“Hey kids, this is your father. I’ve petitioned to have you all declared illegitimate! One more thing to remember this Thanksgiving! Merry Christmas, too, while we are talking about presents. Love, Dad.”

Grayson is a pig, in the sense of being “amoral”, “greedy”, “obnoxious”, and “mean”. In fact, calling him a pig is an insult to pigs.

“Just because he hates her, why should his kids have to drop sports or music classes or whatever they might have had going on while living with him?”

Let’s rephrase that in more rational terms - “Why should the taxpayers pay anything for children not the taxpayers?

To allow government to take from one and give as charity to another IS NOWHERE ALLOWED IN THE CONSTITUTION! ! !

I fail to find any rationale as to how he managed to be elected. And in 2 different districts. What does that say about the voters in those districts? Sad.

Again, Family Law is a mess, its a he said she said thing and if you believe either side at face value you have never dealt with it.

As to your question, when it comes down to putting food on the table or paying for sports, you have your priorities, and sports ain’t above food, regardless of how one may feel about it.

Again, the guy sounds like a jerk, but family law is a mess, and frankly no one wins with it. I lived in poverty handing over most every penny I earned for years trying to be a nice guy and make sure my kids were okay.. what did I get for it? The ex shacking up with a bum and my daughter still sleeping on a crib sized mattress at 7 years old, and an entitlement mentality from my ex who to this very day thinks the kids are hers and I am just an afterthought.

I trust NOTHING when it comes to family law from either side at face value, but if she’s truly got 10k of income a month coming in, and she may have nothing, but if she does, food and shelter are 1 and 2... everything else is after that, and 10k can cover those 2 for certain.

Who’s defending anyone, I am just saying I trust nothing anyone says when it comes to family law... its the most screwed up part of the judicial system. You do the right thing you get punished, you do the wrong thing you get punished, its a system that encourages everyone involved in it to become bitter and angry because it has no logic, rhyme or reason.

I am not going to pounce on someone because they are having a bad divorce and their ex is making claims against them, see way too much lying in this sort of situation to believe ANYONE at face value. PERIOD.

So he shtupped his wife?

Why am I not surprised she’s on food stamps?

But he won’t pay a dime of child support. That’s a Democrat - let the taxpayers take care of his family.

I’m sure it can be a huge mess going through a divorce - I”m sorry yours was so bad, but “normal” people who are having to pinch pennies vs some assbag like grayson who has a lot of money but doesn’t want to pay for his kids to continue a livestyle like they had before are two different things. All of us who pay bills (and taxes) make priorities for ourselves, but if one of the Kennedy’s, for example, left his wife and even though he was paying for her home, only gave $600 a month for each child, you could easily see why that wouldn’t pay for clothing and the activities his kids would have enjoyed before Dad’s drunken whoremongering, or, uh whatever, caused a divorce. So it really isn’t a matter (or probably isn’t) of the wife not budgeting properly.
