Lisa Murkowski on photos in Mark Begich ads: ‘No means no’

Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski is telling her Alaska colleague, Democratic Sen. Mark Begich, that when it comes to using her likeness in his ads, “no means no.”

Begich, who is up for reelection in a closely watched race against Republican Dan Sullivan, has used Murkowski’s picture in campaign ads to highlight his bipartisan bona fides and the fact both he and Murkowski are on the Appropriations Committee. Over the summer, representatives for the Republican sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Begich campaign, but he used a photo of the two of them at a joint press event as recently as a late September spot.

When asked in a debate about the complaint, Begich replied that Murkowski protested because she “didn’t like the photo,” according to local media reports.

“She doesn’t dispute the facts that we vote 80 percent of the time on every single item,” Begich said at the time, in remarks highlighted by his campaign on Monday. “[That’s] more than any other split delegation in the United States Senate. You know if Congress could work like that we could get a lot more done. She shouldn’t be embarrassed about that. She didn’t like the photo. That’s what the letter was about, Dan.”

“That to me is offensive,” Murkowski shot back, according to Alaska media accounts and a supplemental video clip blasted out by the National Republican Senatorial Committee on Monday. “This is not a situation where you want to make sure you got a pretty picture on the TV. That was an offensive statement. And I don’t appreciate that.”

Mookowski will regret that.
She was “elected” via the Dems, they own her.

As if any picture can make Murkowski look good.

Tough standard to live up to.

If you've seen Murkowski, you've seen Begich.

“She doesn’t dispute the facts that we vote 80 percent of the time on every single item,” Begich said

That's probably true...but that sure isn't evidence of him being any less liberal to have a voting record similar to Murkowski's. Once she was able to not only win without conservatives, but also without the Republican Party altogether, she really let loose with her true colors...not even an occasional dog biscuit to conservatives...she doesn't care to keep herself in good standing with her own party.
