The guns from the US were given to the ‘Home Guard’, after the HG was stood down, the arms were melted down for UK war production, NOT tossed in the sea as this stupid postwar myth has it.
We needed all the materials we could get, common sense alone will tell you that the idea we’d toss hundreds/thousands of pieces of metal into the sea is nonsense.
