Plants Can Tell When They’re Being Eaten
Mordrn Farmer ^ | October 20, 2014 | Dan Nosowitz

Eating a leaf off a plant may not kill it, but that doesn't mean the plant likes it. The newest study to examine the intelligence (or at least behavior) of plants finds that plants can tell when they're being eaten -- and send out defenses to stop it from happening.

We’ve been hearing for decades about the complex intelligence of plants; last year’s excellent New Yorker piece is a good place to start, if you want to learn more about the subject. But a new study, conducted by researchers at the University of Missouri, managed to figure out one new important element: plants can tell when they’re being eaten, and they don’t like it.

makes me think of the apple trees in the Wizard of Oz.

Aw, let's be real.  Plants may say they don't like it but while their leaves are saying no their flowers are shouting YES!  Any red blooded mammal walking thru the orchard won't fail to first notice the perfume and then eye the rich round ripening fruit that's just begging to be grabbed and squeezed--

We're still talking about food aren't we?

Wow! I have 300 acres of alfalfa that must really be mad when we swathers come in and mow for hay. Wonder what all of the lawns think?

I would argue that the alfalfa and yard grass species are so new they have not had time to make adjustments.

Genesis 1:28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; 30and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so.…

Too bad Mr. Potato Head, plants are food for us, as well as ever living creature given to us by the creator. So kids, shut up and eat your broccoli, boiled okra (yuk!), and the rest of those potatoes on your plate.

I think I will go and rip off a hunk of lettuce and listen for the screaming. Might slowly cut up a radish also.

Back in the 1960’s CRISWELL PREDICTS stated that the future would be divided between the pill eaters and the bulk eaters as they sparred over which was better, Vitamin pills for food or bulk(the actual plants) for food.

But then, Criswell has been wrong more than he has been right.
