Anyone in Illinois who had direct contact with a person infected with the Ebola virus while in three African countries will be required to undergo a mandatory 21-day quarantine, according to an order signed by Gov. Pat Quinn.
The order, which was signed Friday, affects "high-risk" individuals who have come in contact with patients in Liberia, Guinea or Sierra Leone, the three nations hardest hit by the disease.
The mandatory order also includes medical personnel who have treated people infected with the Ebola virus, officials said.

Five U.S. airports are designated for passengers returning from the West African countries, including O'Hare International Airport, John F. Kennedy in New York, and Newark Liberty in New Jersey. The others are Hart in Atlanta and Washington Dulles in Virginia.

Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Illinois police: Now just who do you think is going to be enforcing this, Pat??
Probably won’t happen. Rahm hasn’t ruled on this yet.
Sounds like what New York is doing.
The airports are covered but what about the situation in the hospitals?
Are all the Doctors and Nurses and other HCWs that are currently taking care of patients in America going to have to go into quarantine now and stay in quarantine for 21 days after their patients are cured or die? What about the ones that were working on Pham? Are they all in quarantine?
What is different about a HCW in Africa and one in America?
We have a very angry nurse that was blindsided with these new regulations. How do you think Phams HCWs will react if they get slammed with quarantines??
“Are all the Doctors and Nurses and other HCWs that are currently taking care of patients in America going to have to go into quarantine now and stay in quarantine for 21 days after their patients are cured or die? What about the ones that were working on Pham? Are they all in quarantine?”
They should be.
“What is different about a HCW in Africa and one in America?”
As far as the possibility of contracting Ebola from a patient? No difference as has been proven in Dallas.
The 10th Amendment is all that’s standing in the way of Federal Tyranny.
Something is funny (wrong) about Dallas.
The ‘family’ who lives, sleeps, and eats with him doesn’t get Ebola, but the nurse who is all suited up does?
I did find that very strange, especially when you consider how quickly Duncan became deathly ill. I have noticed Obama is not taking pictures getting all Huggy Bear with Nurse Vinson. Vinson is busy getting lawyered up, she’s tired of this foolishness and hysteria.
I love that the states are stepping in to do what Obama can’t get off his ass and do.
NY, NJ, now Il. FUBO
Duncan didn’t suddenly become ill.
By the time he went to the hospital, this was already raging inside him. Even then he was sent home until the next day, and it had been developing for days.
This nurse (if she did have it) was caught the moment she felt bad symptoms.
There’s a big difference there. If she had been caught five days later, she would have been in very serious trouble.
Dallas does present some questions. There should have been examinations of items from the apartment to see if ebola virus was detected, and at what concentrations.
Instead everything was carted off and burned.

Thanks for the ping!
