VA has the 2nd highest use of the DP, surpassed only by TX. Even with McAwful as gov this guy will be sentenced to death. I think with appeals, etc., that will continue long after McAwful is out of office.
I wish justice would be swift but I know that’s not how it works here.
I have a recurring thought: Matthews might be able to plea out for life in prison by admitting to the murders of the 2 women who went missing last summer AND showing where he put the bodies. Too late to plea now on Hannah’s murder. But often the prosecutors will take the DP off the table if the perp will lead them to bodies from other murders.
