I have a recurring thought: Matthews might be able to plea out for life in prison by admitting to the murders of the 2 women who went missing last summer AND showing where he put the bodies. Too late to plea now on Hannah’s murder. But often the prosecutors will take the DP off the table if the perp will lead them to bodies from other murders.
If Hannah’s remains are really skeletonized due to vultures and weather there may be no DNA tying her to Matthews. If so, and no witnesses come forward he may skate in a trial due to absence of hard evidence. So far the only evidence released by the authorities is circumstantial. Even though there was video of him with Hannah the night of the disappearance it doesn’t prove he killed her. If the police have no better evidence of him with the other girls, his attorney may be advising him to hang tough.
Remember OJ walked. In today’s world anything is possible particularly when there are racial overtones.
IF he is the perp, he does not deserve any chance of the DP being taken off the table. None. Truly, I struggle with this as a Christian but there comes a time when a line must be drawn and what is truly bad is removed from us...completely.
