It’s official: Debbie Wasserman Schultz cannot name one competitive U.S. Senate race President Obama is campaigning in.
In an interview with Bloomberg Politics’ Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, Wasserman Schultz refused to answer what senate campaigns the president is campaigning for on four separate occasions in a span of 90 seconds.
“Why is Bill Clinton campaigning in competitive senate races and the president not?” asked Halperin
“Um, the president is campaigning in competitive races,” responded Wasserman Schultz.
“No, in competitive senate races. President Clinton is, President Obama isn’t. Why?” Halperin asked again.
“The president is campaigning in competitive races during this election cycle. We have one of the most well positioned situations for a second term midterm of any majority party in probably a generation,” the Florida congresswoman. “Normally a president’s party loses an average of 29 seats. At worst, we’ll be in single digits and i think we could be in single digits pickups in the house. And I think we’ll hold the house.”
