But still too intimidated to boldly proclaim what is right and wrong.
The question really is this — How many of those who identify as “Conservatives” really are who they say they are?
How do they feel if government programs were CUT for instance?
Yet the Liberals always win. They control the media and academia. If you control those two, you control the country.

It doesn’t matter. They have Urban Vote Factories.
RE: Yet the Liberals always win. They control the media and academia. If you control those two, you control the country.
It’s good to call yourself a Conservative ( in theory ), but when push comes to shove, many of those “conservatives” can be quite liberal when their favorite government program is cut or taken away.
How for instance to explain the DANGER that Sam Brownback is facing in Kansas? He will probably one of the few REPUBLICANS who will lose his seat in an election year that is trending Republican nationwide. And remember — THIS IS KANSAS, A RED STATE !!
What did he do? Well he did everything fiscally a conservative is supposed to do, yet, when the results are in, the folks at Kansas don’t like it.
I don’t buy this finding. Liberals by nature are liars, and as such tend to falsely ID themselves as “conservative” or “moderate.”
Yes they are conservative. They want to conserve Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, federal (rather than state) highway spending, the National Guard (over state militias), marriage (including gay “marriage”), cheap illegal alien labor, the Dept. of Education, etc.
IIRC, polls like this actually ask value questions,
not “do you identify as conservative”.
Yep. If we could actually turn those numbers into votes, the liberals would never win another national election and fewer statewide elections.
Blacks poll alot more conservatively than they vote.
They may think that they are social (at least) conservatives, but other issues (say, voting for someone b/c of the color of his skin, or the crease in his trousers, or promises of free stuff) seems to trump this. At least from what Gallup shows. If people voted for what they claim to believe, there would effectively be no Democrat party.
That's why average temperatures are not rising and the Great Lakes are colder every year.
There are more conservatives than liberals.
That's why democrats keep winning elections.
I wonder if this poll takes into account the exemption the Democrats give themselves to the one man one vote rule.
People who tell pollsters they are Conservative, but still pull the lever for Democrats (particularly over economic issues)....THAT is the problem.
Most of my neighbors are culturally conservative Catholics who keep pulling the lever for Dems cause “they support the WORKIN’ MAN!”
Call it a pushover poll.
Thats the problem. They consider Romney/Mitch/Jonbon as conservative so the word really has little meaning today. It had been redefined like ‘gay’ and usurped to push an agenda.
No resemblance to it’s original definition.
Easy to hate liberal elites and their shills... hello New York Times...
Yep. Most people have not the remotest idea how economics work. A fair percentage don't have much of a clue when it comes to how their own government works. So long as the government is in charge of education, this will continue to be the case, and people will vote emotionally rather than rationally.
