In light of recent attacks in Canada on soldiers, why are the Guards at Tomb of Unknown Soldier still carrying unloaded weapons.
Why were no soldiers carrying loaded firearms at the Washington Navy Yard shooting where twelve people were killed just a year ago . . . because our idiot government thinks that trained soldiers cannot be trusted with firearms at work.
Most American military posted yards have unloaded weapons.
DID YOU SEE ANY NEWS TODAY???????!?!!!!!!!?
Yards=guards
Anyone that *needs* shooting.
DID YOU SEE ANY NEWS TODAY???????!?!!!!!!!?
You mean someone tried to attack the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier?
(Do you even know where the memorial is? Ever been there? Think about it.)
>We used to patrol in Beruit with unloaded weapons (why I left the service).<
.
They were afraid that you would drink too much arak on Hamra Street.
My understanding, based on a conversation from years ago with a member of the Old Guard (3rd Infantry Regiment, from which the Sentinels at the Tomb are drawn) is that there are ready weapons and ammo, plus additional Sentinels, located at all times in the staging area within the Amphitheater behind the Tomb.
njs... another reason is because the barrels and actions are chrome plated and they shouldn’t be fired. They are ceremonial rifles.
They’d be better off with a sidearm.
a real, loaded rifle is far heavier that a rifle designed for parade or display.
I am SOOOO cynical of the Obungler administration, that I think they want these soldiers killed. It's probably not true, but I wonder if these soldiers will continue to volunteer to be sitting ducks, like the Canadian soldier in Ottawa?
Sadly, I doubt the fallen soldier would have had a chance to return fire. I believe it came out of nowhere and downed him immediately.
I don’t understand why we take passports from the muslims who want to leave our country to fight with ISIS. I say let them go, don’t let them back in, and we hopefully can bomb them when they get there.
/s (seriously, was that <<<<<< really necessary so some on here don't go berserk?)
How do you know they’re unloaded?
By rights, they ought to open up on any muslim they see.
Heard a talking head say that the rifle was unloaded as it could accidentally go off and kill an innocent bystander. RME Yeah, that makes sense.
Those are real rifles at Arlington. No difference in weight.
That's not true of the Air Force. Our weapons were always loaded with lots of extra ammo. Recently, AF Security Forces at a base here in Arizona opened fire on a car that tried to crash the main gate.
