France's Socialist government today pledged to toughen up its anti face-covering law after a veiled Muslim woman was ejected from a major Paris opera house. In an incident which has divided opinion in the city's liberal arts community, cast members performing La Traviata 'objected strongly' to the presence of a woman in the audience wearing a niqab-type veil.
'A singer spotted her in the front row during the second act,' said Jean-Philippe Thiellay, director of the Bastille Opera, which was opened by Socialist president Francois Mitterand in 1989.

Minorities should take notes. The more socialism the less friendly it is for its tools.

Seems French “artists” are not all brain-dead multi-culti leftists as they are in the USA.

I may be the odd man out here, but I think a law that says what style of clothing you can wear as you go about your private life is rather draconian.
I am not talking about professional activities, where for health and safety reasons there might be compelling arguments for clothing restrictions.
It appears this person was simply attending a theatrical performance. Of what concern is it to others in the theatre, unless she was wearing an enormous hat that blocked the view of patrons behind her?

She (if it was a she) could blow herself up, start shooting the crowd with that gun she’s carrying, or do some other form of jihad without anyone being able to give a good description of her or the cameras getting a good pic of her.
Maybe everyone should start dressing up as ninjas in France as well as America?

- You are the odd man out.
- She's not going about her "private life", she's in a public theater.
- She's covering her face as though she had something to hide, and using religion as a cover.
- That could have been a known terrorist sitting in the front row with a suicide bomb. And it was probably a dry run, with a real terrorist to follow.
- When the hijab is no longer associated with a terrorist religion or suicide bombers, then it would probably be fine. But that won't occur for at least a couple of centuries, if ever.

I once saw Katherine Hepburn onstage in a Seattle theatre...she STOPPED the play to admonish someone in the audience who was taking photos...

On its face, the argument that she could "blow herself up" seems specious, unless the bomb was wrapped around her head, and she needed a veil to hide it.
The "fat guy" in row 8 could really be a "skinny guy" with a belt bomb around his waist, even if he does not have a veil. Add to that the fact that someone willing to blow themselves up is probably not too concerned about being identified after the fact.
Large sunglasses, broad brimmed hats, generous, flowing scarves, ski masks, goggles, gaudy make-up and sweat shirt "hoodies" can all interfere with "Facial Identification Systems". Shall we ban those too?
How about all citizens are required to face forward, remove all head gear and salute to any visibly placed surveillance camera?

Wearing of the niqab face veil is wearing gang colors. Period.
The niqab is a hostile statement to those not Muslim. Period.
The niqab conceals identity & possible terroristic intent. Period.
Islam’s ultimate goal is to take over the world & kill all those whom it deems to be “infidels”. Period.

Surprising, but it turned out the right way.
In the USA, she would have sued and the opera company would have apologized and groveled, and the staff sent to “reeducation” camp.
