Thanks for posting this.
Worth repeating.
Martin Niemöller is turning in his grave.
let them try a play about a muslim
The idea that anyone could actually create an opera called ‘The Death of Klinghoffer’ is simply appalling. God help us as a nation.

“he hijackers singled out Klinghoffer, a Jew, for murder, shooting him in the forehead and chest as he sat in his wheelchair. They then forced the ship’s barber and a waiter to throw his body and wheelchair overboard” ...
Of course it was New York City, moron. Who is more ignorant than they? Provincial troglodytic cliff dwellers out on the east coast fringe, they are more insulated from the real world than the monks of Bhutan.
Coming NEXT....Kent State, the Musical.
They’d pitch a fit over that.
Some folks just need a good old fashioned ass kicking followed by a righteous shunning. The a-holes who,put this “play” together are those people. And I mean everyone. From the producer, to the director, the “actors”, and the boys and girls working the ticket booth.
All of them.
After a moment of reflection, Klinghoffer is his problem too.
Well Klinghoffer happened in 1985, twenty-nine years ago. I remember seeing it on the news. I was a young college student at the time. But even then terrorism was not new to me. I had watched the news reports about the Entebbe airport terrorist and the Munich Olympic Games terrorist.
Time deadens memories. Some of the people going to this opera likely were not born yet or were very young children and so have no memory of this brutal act of terrorism.
Perhaps in thirty years the MET will host an opera explaining how young idealistic Muslim men came to fly passenger laden airline jets in to office buildings occupied by innocent men, women and children of all races, creeds and colors.
I wonder if anyone would protest.
Anti-Semitism is very “in” this year.
I was working in Egypt at the time of the Klinghoffer murder....Egyptians celebrated with joy when the news broke..laughed about throwing a man in a wheel chair over board...great time.......
I think it was produced by a dishonest fellow with the help of a bookkeeper he corrupted. It was supposed to be overcapitalized, and an immediate flop that closed on opening night, so they could make off with the money. Unfortunately for them, it was a hit, and now they must blow up the Met if they don’t want to go to jail. I wonder where he got his capital? From shtupping little old ladies?
