Well, fighting from the air is a huge liability. Air is supposed to be support for the ground, not the whole combat effort.

Yes. And, Syria for Obama regarding the Kurds is not a priority. As far as I've gathered there are no airstrikes (or air-support) by any U.S. Coalition member in Syria (Kobani for example). Obama wants Assad gone from Syria (calls it a political solution). Iraq is the priority as far as fighting ISIS is concerned.
