During the era of desegregation, Boston was roundly chastised for having ethnic “Neighborhoods”. The fact that Roxbury was a “Black Neighborhood” and South Boston was a “White Neighborhood” was considered to be evil. Children were forcibly bussed to schools that were in the opposite neighborhoods, causing great concern among parents. There were demonstrations and violence, and the whole world used the term “Southie’ as a synonym for “Racism”.
Now, the world attaches the same epithets to Jews who want to move into “Arab Neighborhoods”, and thus make it a more integrated, ethnically and religiously mixed area. This is “Celebrating Diversity”, fer cryin’ out loud!
