Its the fault of those mean Republican budget cuts. The CDC had the cash to pay out $25 million in bonuses, but it just couldnt put the money together to write up guidelines telling hospitals that nurses should have no exposed skin when treating Ebola patients.
Will the Republican budget cutting madness never stop?
"U.S. taxpayers gave $6 billion in salaries and $25 million in bonuses to an elite corps of health care specialists at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since 2007, according to data compiled by American Transparencys OpenTheBooks.com, an online portal aggregating 1.3 billion lines of federal, state and local spending. The agencys head count increased by 23 percent during that time, adding manpower and contributing to higher payrolls despite relatively flat funding.
"From 2010 to 2013, all federal wages were frozen because of budgetary constraints, but CDC officials found a way to pay themselves through bonuses, overtime, within-grade increases and promotion pay raises.
Maybe somebody there could have figured out how to write the kind of Ebola guidelines that any person with common sense would have come up with?
"Revised guidance for health care workers treating Ebola patients will include using protective gear with no skin showing, a top federal health official said Sunday.
"Dr. Anthony Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said those caring for an Ebola patient in Dallas were left vulnerable because some of their skin was exposed.
"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is working on revisions to safety protocols.
I hope somebody gets a big bonus for that revision.
The politics of allowing Americans to die from a deadly disease.
Maybe bonuses are based on body count
Why in the heck is the Federal Government giving BONUSES in the first place????
DO YOUR JOB and you GET PAID...
It is, I imagine, a form of channeling money to political spoils patrons beyond their actual income.
Why does a government job hand out bonuses? They are not brining in revenue nor are they producing a cash producing product
It Is Time For The Congress To Re-establish its constitutional authority
While the talkies, talk radio show hosts, need to remind US of this.. Members of the House and Senate also seem to forget. While those selected to head various federal departments of government are recomended by the incomming POTUS (president of the United States).
Such candidates are constitutionaly required to be approved by the Senate in a procedure known as advise and consent.. Those appointed then are also sworn to uphold, protect, serve, and support the constitution. Not the executive branch. .
Such appointees can and should refuse any executive order.Or allow the executive branch create a political appointee who over rides their congressional authority. Particularly. If and when that executive order is designed to ignore existing congressional legislation which defines a departments jurisdiction or specific purpose protecting the interests of the country . Which places the country in danger, or minimizes the value of citizenship, or places its citizens in clear and eminent danger.
Therefore they and their respective departments must be held answerable to both houses of congress which funds these operations. And, should be held in contempt, censure, and impeachment and the funds witheld if refused to comply.
Just like the VA scandal. The ones getting bonuses are the ones that are mucking things up.
What job did they do other then their standard operating procedures?
The answer to this critical question is shown below. The woman/HCW in the protective gear is/was wearing the CDC's recommendation for protective gear.
Below is a photo of the deputy as he was being admitted to the Dallas hospital. Look at the lack of coverage by the so called Haz Mat gear around the HCW's throat.
The only way they should get a bonus is if they can come up with something innovative, that will save lives or taxpayers money.
Can somebody tell me actually when this bonus crap hit the government payrolls? I never thought gov’t employees ever did anything worthy of a bonus and I still don’t think they do!!
It's not like they WORK in the sense that other people do.
To begin with, the fact that they are overpaid for doing NOTHING is bad enough... but to actually receive a BONUS.... really?
Bonuses are nothing more than ‘buying votes’. Salaries are likely already set by Congress, so Bonuses is just another budgetary path to distribute taxpayer money that Congress DIDN’T authorize.
Legalized distribution of stolen monies.

Shouldn't the deputy's legs be covered? Shouldn't any suspected Ebola patient be at least covered with a sheet/blanket/plastic, etc.
Just in case Ebola can jump out at people. How much exposure does it take to contract Ebola? What if you are walking down hospital hallway and an exposed Ebola victim is passed by you?
Hmmm...guess I should check Ebola protocol......./s
I'm trying hard to imagine some virus that can land on that little piece of neck and turn into full-fledged deadly illness through some bodily fluid transfer.
I still don't agree that we know all the ways this can be spread.
They have on a plastic mask, a dust mask, a head and neck covering. Are they saying this virus drills through outer skin????
CHANGE
“Shouldn’t the deputy’s legs be covered? Shouldn’t any suspected Ebola patient be at least covered with a sheet/blanket/plastic, etc.”
The logical answer would appear to be yes.
Look @ the deputy’s legs below the knees for signs of bruising or soft tissue problems.
“To begin with, the fact that they are overpaid for doing NOTHING is bad enough... but to actually receive a BONUS.... really? “
Geez, you are so negative. These bozos are apparently very good at doing nothing and need to be rewarded.
I have all ways wondered if they are expected to send a large % of those bonuses to the DNC to keep their do nothing jobs and bonuses for doing nothing.
Our skin has pores, open sores, cracks and small fissures that can absorb what ever lands on it.
