At Rallies, Obama Casts 2014 as Key for His Legacy CHICAGO Oct 19, 2014 By JOSH LEDERMAN
Marching onto the campaign trail for the first time this year, President Barack Obama cast Democrats' success in this year's midterm elections as a chance to further the policies he's fought for in the White House. "Don't give up now," he said. "Not after we've made this much progress."
Returning to the accepting embrace of his home state of Illinois, Obama told voters that Republicans mean well, but "just have bad ideas." He accused the GOP of recycling those ideas over and over, urging voters to take their future into their own hands by showing up Nov. 4 and electing Democrats.
"The power to move our society, our government, it really is in your hands," Obama said during a rally for Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn that doubled as a homecoming for the president. "You're the reason that I had the audacity to actually run for president of the United States."
Echoing many of the same themes as his own 2008 and 2012 campaigns, Obama said Democrats were fighting to give women equal pay, give children a good education and give all Americans access to decent health care. He contrasted that with the policies of Republicans, whom he claimed were living in the 1950s and belong "in a 'Mad Men' episode."

Wasn’t Mad Men set in the 1960’s, not the 1950’s? And aren’t the 1960’s the decade that his mentors started ruining this country?
I’m flattered... if the worst insult is Republicans like how people dress on “Mad Men” - the 50s were a saner and more responsible era. Obama thinks that’s not cool. These days, that’s decidedly attractive.
I’ll take that as a compliment, bho
Perhaps he could mention his progress, item by item? I would really like to hear his accomplishments in a closing pitch, out of his mouth.
.
Obola is such an ass! Doing his best to fundamentally transform America!
I attended public schools from ‘48-’60, when we were taught civics, government, history, literature, math, geometry, trig, algebra, calculus, biology, chemistry, et al, WITHOUT it all being censored by liberal idiots pushing socialism or this Common Core crap.
We also had “decent healthcare” AND it was affordable.
The 1950s this jerk demeans was generally a time of families with two parents (man/woman), kids allowed to play roughly outdoors and get boo-boos, neighborhoods of several streets and blocks where residents knew just about all of the many “war baby” kids and watched out for them or notified their parents if they were misbehaving.
You know despite Korea, I wouldn’t mind living in the America of the fifties the difference between the repub, scratch that, Conservatives and democraps is the democraps want us living in the Russia of the fifties, the Russia of Stalin, Malenkov and Kruschev..................you know , barry’s idols.
The folks that ran the country in the 50s were the same ones that won the second world war.
We have a community organizer who can’t tackle Islamic State and ebola.
I’ve never seen “Mad Men,” but IIRC, it starts in 1959.
“The Republicans are living in the 1950’s.”
OOOoooh! So insightful. So devastating! So original!
I’ll take the 1950s any day. Smoking was not banished by the nanny staters, sodomites were ostracized, union thugs were held in check, Operation Wetback was tremendously effective, families were strong, schools (even public schools) imparted real knowledge. Culturally, the America of the 1950s was far superior — church attendance was high, good manners were taken for granted, smut peddlers were far less influential, foul language was likewise far less prevalent and there was no such thing as rap “music” or the whole nihilistic hip hop way of life.
I really have no idea what this maniac is talking about.
The only thing I know for sure is the parasites need to be disenfranchised ASAP so they will stop electing dangerous marxist imbeciles
The 1950s were, without a doubt, the absolute height of the American republic. We are a shadow of that long gone nation now...

Id gladly go back to living like we did in the 50’s. We had God in our lives & in schools, we had morals & people for the most part respected one another & helped their neighbors. What’s wrong with all of that?.
