Union enrollment plummets for Wisconsin teachers under tough law

"As soon as I was given the choice, I left," Amy Rosno, a teacher with the virtual class program at the Waukesha school system, told FoxNews.com. "I never really understood the union anyway."

Rosno said she had a better understanding once she was asked to be a representative for her department and attended her first WEAC meeting.

"I realized that it was all political and not about teaching," she said.

Teachers who spoke to the nonprofit education think tank EAGnews.org said they were glad to be free of the union's grip, especially because of the perception their dues were spent on political contributions.

“It’s important to have a choice, because we are all professionals," Michelle Uetz, a special education teacher at Prescott High School told the education news site. "We shouldn’t be pigeon-holed into contributing to politics we don’t believe in.”

WEAC has been accused of having a partisan political alliance with the Democratic Party in the state and backed a failed recall against Walker. Despite losing the policy battle, the union still pressures teachers to join, according to some interviewed by EAG.

I’d love to see the REAL teachers out there tell the union thugs and their ‘RAT masters that from now on, teachers are going to teach. The programing days are over.

I would like for unions to be prohibited from contributing to political parties in any way or form....

union dues are part of the US tax code and qualifies for a deduction/credit under the miscellaneous group IIRC....it seems anything that gets a tax advantage should be totally non political....

Teacher’s unions should be sued out of existence. Use their favorite weapon against them.

Reforms like Wisconsin's will cause the thug unions to shrivel and die on the vine, as they are doing even now in Wisconsin. Vestiges composed mostly of minority troglodytes will survive in isolated inner city hellholes, but their power to shape the political discourse will have been vitiated. Walker's impact in Wisconsin is comparable to Reagan's when he was governor of California. The state never had it better, before or after.

“I never really understood the union anyway.”

Then learn about The Frankfurt School, and the decades of influence its minions have had on education, media, political parties and unions. It was a key root of today’s evils.

“Among Marxists, Gramsci is noted for his theory that cultural hegemony is the means to class dominance. In his view, a new “Communist man” had to be created through a changed culture before any political revolution was possible. This led to a focus on the efforts of intellectuals in the fields of education and media.”

“The primary goal of the Frankfurt School was to translate Marxism from economic terms into cultural terms. It would provide the ideas on which to base a new political theory of revoltuion based on culture, harnessing new oppressed groups for the faithless proletariat. Smashing religion, morals, It would also build a constituency among academics, who could build careers studying and writing about the new oppression.”

“After the Institute was shut down by the Nazis in 1933, the exiled circle remained relatively intact, especially during the initial period in New York, where they were housed at Columbia University...”
