In an obscure corner of the federal bureaucracy, there is an office that is 990,399 cases behind.
That is Washingtons backlog of backlogs a queue of waiting Americans larger than the populations of six different states. It is bigger even than the infamous backups at Veterans Affairs, where 526,000 people are waiting in line, and the patent office, where 606,000 applications are pending.
All of these people are waiting on a single office at the Social Security Administration.
Social Security is best-known for sending benefits to seniors. But it also pays out disability benefits to people who cant work because of mental or physical ailments. And it runs an enormous decision-making bureaucracy to sort out who is truly disabled enough to get the checks and who is trying to game the system.

Depressed? I thought the big ones were “back pain” and “bi-polar”.
The Democrats Wealth Redistribution Dependents...
My youngest sister who lives in Minnesota now gets SSI. Minnesota throws in $80 for food. It totals $802 a month.
She does have a bad back and has seen many doctors who give her hard pain medicine that leaves her disoriented or after she refused to continue was given acupuncture or back massages. Acupuncture works for 3 days and the pain is back. She refuses to go to other doctors that can really fix it as this is her only money and she does not want to work.... She is stupid.
no joke, my sil threw here cane away the minute she found out her lawyer got her a nice big fat SSD check...
and working in a hospital, I see way too many 35 yros who are on disability....one was on it for carpul tunnel...another for stress....another for mental problems...like bipolar...another for arthritic knee...
I can tell you that most nurses have arthritic knees, degenerative disc disease, stress and carpul tunnel....yet some people keep on keeping on and others...."where's my money"?
One of my best friends does work as a disability evaluator, in addition to his normal psycho-therapy practice. The amount of people trying to scam the system is unbelievable... no wonder there’s a backlog. Fortunately most of the people who try to scam the system, are quite stupid... they do however regularly lodge complaints against the evaluators. They also notoriously miss their appointments and/or show up late.
I throw bipolar in with the depressed ones. Doctor I was referencing didn’t see individuals complaining of back pain. Once his rejection rate began escalating, he was told his services would no longer be required and his contract was not renewed.
