The ancestors of today’s African Americans paid a very dear price, but they did earn something very valuable - American citizenship for their descendants. Most blacks today have been brainwashed, used by race baiters trying to gain political advantages. The reality is the we ALL are descendants of slaves. And slave owners for that matter - if you can research back far enough.
