Meet Shyanne Roberts, a 10-year-old competitive shooter who is out to prove something: Children with guns don't always mean disaster.
"I want to be an inspiration to other kids and be a leader," said the girl. "Kids and guns don't always mean bad things happen."
Shyanne competes alongside junior shooters, who are participants younger than 18, and even adults. Last year, she beat out adult women to place second in the Women's Division of the New Jersey Ruger Rimfire Challenge.

Ya think they could have come a with a title like “10 ten year old marksman” rather than one that glows with negative connotations? Of course not! It’s the Communist News Network and every gun story good or bad has to sound bad.
She is awesome ..... will have to see how she does at the brownell shoot on Oct 31st..... thanks for the links.
Stay Safe !
Fake story. Guns are never used for good.
You’ll shoot your eye out kid.
“Marksman” is sexist, and its use is forbidden. /s
I instruct 4H kids in shooting sports there are lots of good kids that shoot very well.
The reason many don’t shoot in competitions it takes a lot of money.
To do more then shoot at the local level.
Markswowman, crackshot, straight shooter, all would have been complimentary, but of course the media can’t be anything but negative about guns and those that use them. And thank you for reminding me what a sexist bastard I am ; )
Ping. I was content to shoot a single shot .22 rifle at that age.
Good on 'er, but who in their right mind has anything to do with New Jersey? I know she's probably from the mostly-sane rural part, but if this makes the national or state-wide press, watch all the screamers come our from under their rocks.
And who has the luxury of shooting .22lr any more? Probably that's one reason so many kids start out with a MSR in 5.56mm today. .22 caliber is like a rare imported beer, like Pabst. :)
Yep .... Even today I’d be happy to just shoot more .22 .....:o)
Well, actually it was .22 shorts in those days.
Yep, a full selection of .22 S, L, LR in the display cases
‘those were the days my friend, we thought they’d never end....’
Actually am finding good supply of CCI , Ely , Sk from Lapua along with a bit of bulk federal. Lots of 22 mag and .17 as well. Funny that’s it all from small mom and pop stores and pawn shops etc vs the big box stores.
Using the lesser quality federal in revolvers and bolt guns after running it through a Paco Kelly accurizer tool and the quality stuff like CCI & Ely for my semi autos.
Finding 22 WMR more than 22 long rifle so my single six Ruger Convertable and bolt guns get more use for sod poodles and paper punching ....
Crazy days ...... Hope yer well, stay safe !
