CDC: 7th U.S. Death Linked to Polio-Like Respiratory Virus

The latest CDC update on the current outbreak of the polio-like Enterovirus D-68 states that it has now been detected “in specimens from seven patients who died and had samples submitted for testing.

Unlike Ebola, CDC is not publicly addressing the spread of EV-D68 in television interview or telephone briefings.

According to the latest update from CDC, at least 796 people in 46 states have been sickened with the respiratory illness that can cause paralysis from mid-August through October 16. The outbreak is likely more widespread than reported since some states are not lab testing all respiratory illnesses to confirm. Most cases are said to be mild.

The identity of the seventh victim isn’t provided on the CDC website.

A Phoenix couple reportedly says doctors have confirmed that enterovirus killed their infant son, Lancen Kendall, without warning. They told a local news station, 3TV, that CDC is testing to see if the D68 strain is to blame. The couple says their child showed no symptoms but simply did not wake up from a nap earlier this month.

“The lack of warning is the scariest part to me. We didn’t know he was sick,” father Kevin Kendall told the news outlet.

I'm in NY and I had a scary night with my 9 y/o son earlier this week. I thought for a couple days that he might be getting sick - but there were no real symptoms. A few sniffles and a few coughs one day and the next day he had mild digestive issues. But he said he felt fine.

Then that night he woke me up at 4am staggering into my room and telling me he couldn't feel his arms and legs and could barely walk. He said he woke up and couldn't move and had to force himself with all his strength to get to me.

I brought him back to his room and had him lie down and I stayed with him - but then he started gasping for air and telling me he couldn't breathe. But he was not congested at all. It was really distressing - my husband was working - and I was just at the point thinking that I would have to call emergency (which I have never done before in my life).

But I was able to elevate him and calm him down. And finally it passed. If he had been younger and a deeper sleeper, had a pre-exisitng respiratory condition or even a head cold at the time I really think it could have been so much worse. I can understand now how these children are dying in their sleep. It is so scary.

I have been saying this all along, albeit with Duncan’s death especially (and the others infected) I have more fear of it.

With a 6yo son I am very concerned, and that includes the Entero. It is EVERYWHERE, and we have illegals in this state.

I know, it might have nothing to do with illegals, but I think it’s strange that it showed up after the “children” were allowed in, and of course my stupid state happily welcomed more here to ruin us.

I understand all the Ebola coverage but look around in the local and national media and not much mention of the Enterovirus D-68, which has been much deadlier in the US.

I imagine the liberal media elites understand if this were to get out, American children dying as the result of this bringing these illegals in for political purposes, the ire of Americans would be overwhelming and deservedly so. The American people need to be informed.
