Im a vegetarian. I havent eaten meat in 20 years.
Up until this morning I was OK with my dietary choice.
But then I saw this video just uploaded by Direct Action Everywhere, a radical vegetarian activist gang, and now I am ashamed. Ashamed to be associated with them. Ashamed that everyone I meet must think Im some sort of anti-meat revolutionary. Ashamed that mean-spirited lunatics have hijacked my personal food preference and turned it into rallyng cry for passive-aggressive bullying.
Watch and weep, as a contingent of vegetarian fascists burst into a random restaurant in San Francisco and try to pull some kind of creepy mind-game on the bewildered diners:

fanaticism....yes....we even see that here on FR from time to time.
There is a strong totalitarian streak in too many people pushing whatever cause they believe in.
It sounds like this writer is a vegetarian, for whatever personal reasons, but does not want to impose that status on others.
Face it, whether the issue is homosexuality, saving the whales, global warming, alleged racism, or any other cause you can think of, the loudest most active people are also the most obnoxious and most totalitarian in their thinking. And if they had the power, those supporting those causes want to impose their views on the rest of us.
ChickenBoo
In the first place, the writer is awfully concerned about what other people think.
And in the second place--such bullying is characteristic of those disgusting people who call themselves progressives or liberals or whatever the Orwellian newspeak du jour. They are determined to control everyone and everything. They are narrow-minded, dogmatic, and the opposite of liberal. And they have only contempt for liberty and individual freedom.
I saw these people for what they are many years ago, and time and careful observation have only confirmed my conclusions about them.
I have been a vegetarian for many years. It has nothing to do with anyone but me.
I certainly don't feel guilty or apologetic--or anything else--because of a bunch of thugs.
A free-range steer grazing on ten acres of grass and slaughtered for meat kills one life form.
Ten acres plowed, harrowed, fertilized and otherwise cultivated for soybeans kills hundreds of thousands of worms, bugs, mice and other pests either through direct action or destruction of habitat.
I eat meat because it is kinder to my animal friends.
For the record, I personally apologize for all of the Greek city-state wars. I can do that according to today's standards because no one in my family has ever lived anywhere near Greece. /sarc/
Zombie has done tremendous work in the past. Spectacular really.
I’ll cut her some slack here. She doesn’t need to feel guilty about anything.
Pretty sure Zombie was being tongue in cheek. Or tofu in cheek.
It’s about time you apologized for all those Greeks! I thought you would never admit your guilt! ; )
Hey, Zombie, whatever you do, don’t get into the meat habit with Liberian monkey meat.
Maybe I’m wrong but can any one name one conservative cause where the people act like these idiots on the left!!!
Vegans... Helpless plants are ripped from gaia’s womb by these depraved monsters. Join People for the Ethical Treatment of Plants (PETP) and help stop this heartbreaking tragedy.
Think of all the carrots they have killed by yanking them out of the ground!
The photo shows some very scary people. They vote democrat!
A few years ago we were having dinner with several college age skulls full of mush. When someone asked why one of them was a vegetarian while eating a such a great restaurant , she said “it’s because I am saving the rain forest in Brazil”.
No more questions for her.
I’m guessing they were never treated to hearing a tomato scream when being slaughtered.
I’m fully supportive of anyone who simply feels that it’s a healthier choice for them (which, depending on one’s physiological makeup, it may well be). What I’m always amused by are those who say they want to save the animals. Really, which animals are those? The ones who simply won’t exist if you have your way? It’s not like people are going to keep cows as pets. I mean, I don’t approve of unnecessary cruelty, but frankly, when a cow enters the slaughterhouse, he/she is achieving their highest career goal.
The ones who really crack me up, though, are the ones who go all Hindu and claim that it’s good karma to abstain from eating meat. Sure, that works. Except that, based on the law of karma, the cow has it coming, so why should I feel bad about being an instrument of cosmic justice?
